It took my framerate in Elite Dangerous from 2 per second to 30. There's just no way to be nice about it, SteamVR sucks for Rift users. Don't use it and just launch the Steam games after you have started the Oculus app.
Which frankly is harming developers via users assuming the problem is the final application not steams middle ware VR applicaion.
In my original post I had already set Oculus Rift supersampling to something like 1.7 and then tried playing a steamvr game, but upped the SteamVR supersampling to something like 1.6. The problem was it combined them, so SteamVR with SuperSampling at 1.0 was actually 1.7 (setting from oculus rift) and then when I set it to 1.6 it was multipying them together.
Anyway, the fix was to only use supersampling with the oculus rift software and leave Steamvr at 1.0.
yea this is 2 years old but it no longer works do you know of any other way
