Is this what a need for a decent VR video card? Where would you recommend to buy one? Any deals after Xmas you think? Thanks guys.
Oh, what do you do with your VR cord hanging around your feet?

I clip the VR cord to my belt with a little clip. It works well and keeps it behind you. You get very used to avoiding the cord very fast, it's the same thing that happens to someone playing electric guitar.

As for a video card, the 1070 is amazing and almost overkill. A RX 480 or r9 Fury (cheaper now) or r9 390X or 1060 works just as well for 80% of what's out there. If you want the best possible experience and you have the money by all means go with the faster card, but it's not as needed as you might imagine: you can do great and get a solid 90fps with a 250$US card.

What Video card would you recommend sir for say ARMA III and the odd racing game or flight simulator.

Depends on the age of the game. Arma III's requirements aren't too huge but racing games and flight sims can get big depending on what you're playing. I don't like to favor one over the other, in a general sense amd gives you more fps/dollar but many AAA games make use of nvidia gameworks. Really, take a look at what you're playing, and see if that is the case.

In my opinion, due to the price/performance ratio there's no reason to go with anything but RX 480 8gb unless you can get a R9 390x or R9 Fury (or fury x) for the same price. The highest RX card is cheaper than a 1070 and gets better performance than a 1060 in most cases, and better performance than a 1070 in -SOME- cases. The 1070 is reasonably priced however, considering it's performance point.

If your getting VR then I say get the 1070, AMD do offer a good price/performance but Nvidia offer way more for VR for now, VR works is in the two main engines used in VR Unreal 4 and Unity plus others also take advantage, plus the new reprojection only works on Nvidia at this moment though it's supposed to be coming eventually to AMD.

Ok thanks guys.....I will. If I go with say a 1070 how does one know which 1070? Can I post my sytem information? How does one attach print screens? Want to make sure I get the compatible one :)

Actually any 1070 does fine. Get a nice price one.
The aftermarket cards can actually be worse than normal reference founders editions.. (memory, vrm cooling)...

Check out PC part picker .com for a good price search, EVGA did have some thermal pad issues, but they will send it out for you if you wish. I have a 1070 Black Edition and I love it.

I have a MSI GTX 1080 Armor, they do a 1070 Armor too, it has a awesome cooler on with big silent fans and there usually priced well, worth looking at, mine runs at 2GHz no problem.

I have a Gtx 1070 in my dedicated VR rig and a 1080 in my main gaming rig. I may actually switch these two computers around because games like Arizona Sunshine really benefit from the best possible hardware.

The 1070 is amazing and a perfect fit for VR. If you have the money though I would get the 1080. Turning up SS in VR games really makes them better and the 1080 is the only card that can do that reliably.

Also, I use a Velcro belt that I bought at Walmart in The arts and crafts section to secure the cord to my waist. I also use Velcro cord straps on my ankle to help the cord stay behind me, although you do sacrifice some length.
