Does steamvr stop recognizing your headset if you restart your computer? Is your fix stable?
I've tried all the forum's, FAQ instructions even all the unplugging and plugging and I only get 3d camera. I even reinstalled Windows and still nothing. Reinstalling windows got rid of error 108 but it only says "Welcome. Please plug in your VR headset." too.
The very trippy part is... with a mini display to display port dongle and Using my Helios 300 laptop, the Valve Index works... but It won't work on my Desktop after going through all the other stuff.
Did you uninstall Steam at all? or update all the drivers first? Or did you simply reinstall windows and install steam and it worked?
I also installed drivers after installing Steam.
Oculus Rift S worked fine with apps that have direct oculus support, but steam vr showed error 108 and couldn't find the headset.
Support advised me to try the Steam Beta AND Steam VR Beta and it works again.
There is no need to reconnect cables or reinstall drivers etc, just use the beta.
also, I just figured that etron camera on the headset is working and I can use it, also I can use USB hub in the headset for a flash drive, so USB cable is also workable as a DisplayPort cable because I can see desktop via it. So probably the problem in the firmware of a headset so is it possible to rollback or reset firmware of a headset?
No idea if it's stable. I haven't turned off SteamVR since, lol. I've been playing Alyx and I don't want to risk messing it up permanently while we're mid-lockdown.
