wmr you'll need atleast 1 usb 3.0 and maybe a usb 2.0.for the bluetooth dongle as it can have interference if plugged into a usb 3.0 port. and of course a hdmi port spare on your card. I actually use my dvi adapter for my monitor so i can have the hdmi for my acer.

I don't have any WMR headset, but for Vive you need... 1x USB2. For Rift you need at least three USB ports, I think you can put the headset on USB2 but not entirely sure. If you get a third camera that can also do USB2 if I remember it correctly.

The WMR headsets I believe only have one USB but not sure which kind, no difference if I or you google it. But the controllers use Bluetooth, so depending on if you have that already that might take another port.

I really should get a WMR headset at some point so I'm not clueless about this stuff 😅

For my Vive, I require 1 USB (if can be a USB2 or USB3 port, if the 3 port drops back to 2 when need be) Port and a second HDMI or a Display port. (if using HDMI and display port, I plug my monitor into the display port and Vive into the HDMI port)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

one more thing, its easier to have rechargebles battries for the controller but alot of rechargeble struggle to maintain the 1.5v they will work in a pinch but it can cause the controller to go into a low power state and that can make tracking abit less accurate. youll know this by now matter how long you charge them one or both controller will show low battery.

welcome to the future :)

yup, forgot about the USB port for the Bluetooth dongle. My laptop has bluetooth built in and the desktop required a dongle. However, if the lighhouses are wired into the computer, you will require USB ports for those as well bringing the total to 3.

A lot of people recommend "eneloop pro" as best rechargable batteries (i use on Rift touch) they are expensive but worth it, I also find the cheaper Lidl brand Tronic AA 2500 works well. note rechargable batteries are ratted at 1.2v reading 1.3v fully charged, so a good amp hour rate (2500mA/hr +) is needed to keep the battery alive.

i was meaning for wmr but here in nz if its a AA battery it's rated (by its pack of course) at 1.5v if i use any rechargable they do work but they start to.display low power with in an hour and they can last that way all week even brand new ones. best bet is some kind of alkaline performance battery over rechargables ive found
