Direkt-tek VR-tek WVR3 headet problems

I am having some trouble with setting up my WVR3 headseat. As far as I know I am doing everything correct. I have everything updated and whatnot, but nothing seems to be working. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The VR-TEK was my first PC VR Headset about a year ago. I then went to a used Vive, and then to the Index. I sold the used Vive, but have not sold the VR-TEK for fear I'd be juts passing along a problem to someone else.

The VR-TEK in my experience, was good enough to give me only the slightest idea of what PC VR is. Maybe that's because my IPD is 58mm, and at the low end of it when sliding the IPD to the limit. But since even the Rift S non-adjustable (rated at like 62mm?) looked better, I'd suggest you DO NOT use the VR-TEK as a guage of what VR is.

I wasted so much time trying to make it work in SW, and trying to find games that didn't need motion controllers, that I honestly wish I spent more and got the lowest end of the list above, instead.

In fact, I'd honestly give mine away for free to ANYONE who actually wants it.

Thats all fair enough but fact is, there are not many games will work with it anyway. You're pretty much limited to racing or flight sim games "if" you can make it work. It has no official SteamVR support and the manufacturers are not going to do anything about it.

It is, at the end of the day, a low budget cash grab item that's really not suitable for the market it is aimed it anymore.

But if you can make it work...yeah, why not if it costs you nothing but time.

I will be happy to take it off your hands! I have an autistic son who loves racing games. I picked up the last one less than two weeks ago and got it ready to go for him for Xmas. An extra one would be great to have on hand if my other child starts fighting him over it, and hopefully will encourage them to play together instead.

What steps have you taken to get it working? What GPU? Plugging it directly by HDMI no adapters? I should be able to help.

Here is the steps I followed to get up and running:

Goto http://www.direkt-tek.com/support/ and find WVR1, WVR2, & WVR3 and click download under driver then download Holoview (Virustotal said it's clean, great site).

Now once it's installed right click on Holoview in your task tray by the clock and select Holoview upgrade. Reboot if it asks and then run it again. Repeat till it says no updates.

Now right click on Holoview once more and select Firmware Upgrade.

Unplug Headset HDMI and USB then replug.

Suggest going in your Windows Display settings and duplicate your Monitor and the VR Headset (it will be displayed as a monitor).

Once done load up Steam and click on Tools then install SteamVR (can optionally opt into the beta too).

Load it up and ignore any errors. Go in the SteamVR settings. Click on Developer and then enable direct display mode. This will reload SteamVR. You shouldn't need to reconnect the Headset cables but if it still gives an error try that.

Should be up and running. If it loads in Safe Mode then make sure to exit Safe Mode and load it normally.

Id's also suggest under General to disable the SteamVR Home and under developer to untick "Enable advanced super sampling filter" may produce better looking head movement.

Remember to turn your Controller on before loading SteamVR. You should see a green controller icon. You can configure your Controller for native VR games and programs by selecting Devices in the SteamVR drop down menu and select Configure Controller.

Non-native VR games / programs will need Steam Big Picture Mode in settings then Controller.

Another quick fix I discovered. If you notice a blue line in say Steam Home VR or some games just go in the SteamVR settings then developer. Change large room to standing and click quick calibrate (will reset back to large next boot). Goodbye blue line.

hey i would assume that the wvr2 setup is basically the same, so when i download holoview it says restart my computer then so i do that then i try to download it again should i restart every time and is the task tray the little arrow because i dont get any thing poping up there.

After reinstalling Win 10 I cant get the Firmware updates
anymore
It wont connect to their server, can anyone confirm its still working ? Thanks

Thanks I have installed the drivers
On installing, the app prompts to install: Steam, then Steam VR
The app can launch Firmware updates from the tray, well it USED to work, now it wont connect to the server for the upgrades , so the headset is currently unusable.
Can anyone confirm that the app no longer can connect ?
Just bought Elite as well...

I can confirm the updater is not connecting to the servers. Likely they have been taken down because the headsets have been discontinued. Will let you know if I've found other alternatives to get it working.
