Is this a v1 or v2 base station? (v2 has a curved front). If v1 what mode is it in? (LED letter in front).

So the next question is what version of base station is it replacing? They are not compatible: if you have a v1.0 system and you're trying to add a v2.0 light house, it ain't a'gonna work.

There is an option to rescan for devices for the steam bar menu. Have you tried that? I believe it’s in the devices menu option.

What do you see if you do a scan?

Nothing , the scan says theres no base station, and the basestatiion lights green.

Maybe a helpful tip, without your headset plugged in and on you will not get any stations, as they are detected by your gear. They don't have a live connection to your PC. 😅 That's the only reason I can think of no station popping up at all... 😬

I agree with BOLL. The headset controls the base stations and hand controllers. If your headset doesn't have blue two blue lights lit on the front of the face side when plugged into your computer then there is something wrong.

Is your USB-C cable plugged in. That is how the headset is controlled by the Steam VR program.

Sometimes you just need to use the Restart Headset command from the SteamVR menu, it can fix a wide range of issues, especially tracking/sync related.

I wish I knew what this command is actually doing. . . Whatever it does, It's definitely not something that happens under restart, startup, and sometimes even setup conditions.

Ok now i ve tried everything and i think this base station is also not working. (for info the other one that snt working has a defective mechanical). I ve plugged everything out, checked all my drivers, i have done what you told me. But it isnt recognizing in Steam VR. my Old one is grey and the system is looking for it. If i scan and configure new base station ill get two, my working one and my old changed one, that is in the packaged. Steam vr said , that the device isnd visible. if i press the visible check button, the new one is reacting with the lights, wtf. anyway i will test it on a friends pc. and if it doenst work i will return it. Thanks for help.

I'm guessing here but I think...
  • Isn't visible = it doesn't put out any IR laser sweeps or sync pulses
  • Channel config etc = goes via Bluetooth, a separate connection
Basically, it could be mechanically defective but still be detected and configured over Bluetooth.

If you use a digital camera or your camera phone and walk up close to the active base station, you should see the dark red/purple glow of the IR emitters, compare between your two stations if that looks similar or not.

So guys now i tested it on my friends pc and it works perfectly. So i knew it should be a software problem. Anyway at home now, i completly removed Steam VR and the the USB connection with the developer mode. restarted the computer, and only connected one station. So after installation and setup, one station now is online and visible, and theres no other more. i connected the new one and searched for new base station, and GREAT it works now. It seems that a software problem with a security software ccleaner was caused the issue. It removed some registry files that are needed to use the bluetooth function via the headset. After the new installation the files are be recovered. Ok i ve learned that i should check my security automation exactly next time... Thanks to all who helped me @BOLL @Stryder @...BadLucky @rtschramm

Ah, yeah, people's individual software stack is a minefield when it comes to VR, also pretty much impossible to keep track of all that when trying to figure people's problems out 😅 Thanks for sharing what the fix was, cheers!
