HTC Vive hmd resolution too low
I'm using the HTC Vive to play assetto Corsa and drift rally and I'm always getting a low-resolution in the headset. I have a triple screen set up, so there are three TVs and the HTC Vive connected to the PC. I've contacted HP customer support and I was told that I need to sacrifice 1 monitor in order for the graphics card to make up for good resolution for the Vive due to its technical limitations (it's an Nvidia RTX 2080 BTW). I already know that AC and dirt rally don't support the vive, but there are numerous people on YouTube playing both games with the Vive so obviously there's something I'm missing here. I've managed to play AC with the Vive in open VR mode (early support) and I've set the resolution to 1920 by 1080, which runs & looks decent at best. Any resolution above that and the display starts flickering whenever I move my head. There's a video on YouTube which instructs to install revive, which will emulate the Vive in place of the Oculus rift, but I haven't tried that yet. Can anyone please help me? I appreciate your help!

the removal of monitors probably isnt true i have 3 monitors, a htc vive and a 1060 3gb and my vr in racing and normal racing is perfectly fine, have you tried turning the auto adjust performance thingy that changes resolution off and also manually changing the resolution for ac in steamvrs settings?

set your super sampling to 500%. This should fix your problem. I'm running mines at 250%

Yes I've tried turning the auto resolution off then set it manually to both HTC Vive resolution (2880x1600) and 4k resolution (3840x2160) and they both look almost the same, the display is heavily pixelated and the display flickers whenever I move my head. The best resolution I've had so far is 1920 x 1080 and that's only because the screen doesn't flicker, otherwise it pretty much looks the same. Because I have 3 4k monitors setup, I've extended the desktop across the three monitors so my resolution is 5760 x 1080. That resolution isn't available in VR mode though. What resolution do you have it set to for VR in assetto Corsa? Also, when switching from triple screen mode to VR mode in assetto Corsa, do you also turn off triple screens in the PC settings?.

How do I change that? Is it in the assetto Corsa menu or the HTC Vive menu?

Also, do you use revive? And do you have it in Oculus rift mode or open VR mode?

It's in the settings. go advanced, choose custom resolution and pick at least 350% supersampling for the vive. the image should be sharper by a large margin. since the vive is such a low resolution HMD, you can probably get away with 500% but no reason to go this high. use 350%. I use 250% on my index because the headset is a higher resolution device.

What is the resolution you have set in your HTC Vive? Also do I need to turn off surround screen mode in my PC settings before using the vive?

it would be a good idea to turn it off as you'll want all your pixel pushing power/headroom for vr. just curiously what refresher rate are those monitors set too?

I have an HTC Vive pro HMD headset. It's a $800 headset and HTC's newest. I'm pretty sure it has more than decent resolution quality

Run that at 220%

so they're not stressing the system too bad. I still say give it a shot and disable one or both side monitors and see if that actually helps. VR can be a weird beast sometimes.
