HTC VIVE controller track pad hard to click?
I got a refurbished htc vive a few days before christmas, and literally, the 3rd day of use one of the controllers is having a problem. The left side at 9 0'clock (if you were to look at it like a clock) has a hard time clicking down, it doesn't have any problems detecting that im pressing down but rather the actual piece is hard to press down on. It snaps around while playing and it is very annoying. The overall clicking of the trackpad is very quiet and weird. My other controller is fine, makes the nice audible normal click noise without issue. Whatever I search up to find a solution to it, it brings me to another similar issue people have with it not detecting which is not the problem im having. Would anyone know what is happening or how to fix it easily without tearing apart the controller?

If you have debris under the pad at 9 o'clock, maybe you can press the pad at 3 and give it a gentle whap to move the debris somewhere benign. Probably won't stay there, though.

I remember one person said in those other threads he avoided disassembly (for the other problem) with a hard squeeze on each side of the trackpad (fingers at 9 and 3 squeezing in towards the center). Worth a try, but there's also good disassembly resources on the internet if it comes to that. Looks like the certified pre-owned have a 1 yr warranty.

there's a tiny foam rubber pad thing in a recess between the actual tactile switch and the back of the thumb pad. The foam adds some negligible squish to the click, but it craps out at the edges. You can replace it with practically anything.

well, what happens is that when I press on the left and get it to go down, it makes a snapping noise, and when i press at 3 o'clock, and then 9 o'clock again the problem is back but if i press 12 and 6 that doesn't effect it, so i don't know exactly what the problem could be. I don't want to tear down the controller and i also don't want to replace the foam. I have tried to do the press done on the sides trick but that doesn't do anything. Im just extremely worried that I will mess up if i take apart the controller and cause a $150 replacement

Actually, I just gave it a nice small while holding down 3 o'clock and something moved inside of it somewhere, it probably is some sort of debris under the 9 o'clock area that is stuck and cant move but i dont have the type of screwdriver to tear it apart and im still worried about breaking it
