Technically speaking, you cant play Steam games and Minecraft on the Quest. You have to connect it to your PC and run the games on on your PC to have them play on the Quest (making it act like a PC VR headset).

Assuming you have the Quest connected to your PC via the relevant link cable amd the relevant Oculus software running on your PC, you'll be able to play Steam games and Minecraft.

So...what steps have you taken so far?

vivecraft doesn't work with the quest, and steamvr games barely work with it. The quest isn't a pc headset, rather than something you bring to a friend's house.

To play SteamVR games on the Quest you need a PC link cable.

if you want to play PC VR games on your Quest, you need the Oculus Link cable.

i would like to note that some programs such as vridge and virtual desktop let you play pc vr on the quest wirelessly

To use a Quest on PC, you need a Link Cable, sold separately.

Then, you need to install the Oculus App to your PC. Make sure you can launch games from third-party sources in the settings of Oculus.

Then, SteamVR should detect your Oculus Headset, but Oculus and Steam must both be open.

I'm new here and I am looking at the same setup. I want to be able to play driving games in VR (Assetto Corsa games, Project Cars 2, Dirt rally...) with my Quest. Is this really all I need to do?

I was thinking there was something that had to be loaded via Side Quest but maybe that's just for the wireless version of using the Quest with SteamVR. I've been doing so much research I may have my wires crossed. What I haven't seen yet is a step by step guide for setting up the quest as a PCVR headset with SteamVR. Maybe I just have :)?

Yeah sideloading with sidequest is just for wireless, wired is just a cable (any usb-c works, though the official one is faster) and setting it up like a rift, flip a switch to allow steamvr to detect it
