1 controller for 2 hands?
i have a disability where i have trouble using my right hand. is there a VR remote that somehow can control both left and right with just 1 controller? i'm sure wanting to use both left and right at same time would be complicated though

you might be able to bind buttons from the right controller to the left and just continue to use your left hand and not miss out on critical game functions

EDIT- the controller i found does not support 6DOF so that's out

in steam bigpicture mode there should be an option under every games play button that says manage controller or something to that effect.
you can rebind every button if you'd like but for example. the right hand is typiclly use interacting/ firing. while the left is mainly use for player based movement.

you could rebind the fire/use button to your left hand, or player rotation along side player movement so you could move forwadd and back but instead of strafe left and right set it to turn you left or right on the same hand.

does that makes sense? or do you mean more have the right hand mimic the left in terms of tracking?

i found a good substitute, Driver4VR. you can set up the computer mouse to be used for one hand and the keyboard for the other. i have a gaming mouse so both can be used quite well with my left hand, just will take some getting used to.

looks like it works quite well! i haven't gotten to actually use it yet because i have a GearVR and the driver i want to use to play SteamVR games with it isn't actually compatible yet but will be by the end of the year. what i CAN do so far is set up the controller placement with Driver4VR but it hasn't been easy with the Yaw, Roll, Pitch settings. any tips?

not really man i fired it up a few weeks ago and its sooo different now. back when i was usjng it. it was mainly for positional tracking for head, hands had just been added in that build. but now yiu can use it for all sorts of things. including full body tracking.

just curious why cant you use your gearvr now with it? its compatible with riftcat and vridge you could use your hmd exactly like i am using the dk1 with the added bonus of being 100% wireless. and use skeletal tracking with the kinect. i was using the psmove controller because they can track there own rotation and in tantem with the skeletal tracking via the kinect 360 gives roomscale vr on the super cheap.

though i wouldnt recommend anyone build a system to do this. if you have the stuff lying round like i did its sweet if alittle kluncky but if you have to buy all the stuff, kinect and the adapter, psmove etc your better off just buying wmr used and have a much better experience. considering the kinect 360 can only track 30fps. so thats a 3rd of the smoothness of consumer based VR.

But to the opening post let me know what you think? that controller you were looking at works with driver4vr and with the kinect would off 3 degrees of positional tracking and you can set it up to always point in the direct your hmd is looking for that extra 3dof to give 6dof

there are several ways to emulate VR headsets. i've used Trinus but couldn't connect play hand-tracking games. i attempted to use Vridge a while ago but couldn't get it working at all, forgot why.
the method i found recently has been the easiest to start: iVRy. all i do is start SteamVR and i can play HTC Vive/Oculus games with the help of Driver4VR. the only issue is setting up the controls with D4VR so they are calibrated and stay that way. i have it set to have virtual controllers using mouse, keyboard and it's been 2 days and i still haven't figured it out

ah i get what your doing now, wow thats gonna be a hell of a learning curve to use XD the guy whi makes the app, Gregg hes awesome to deal with, and some of the stuff hes done with d4vr is crazy. he even did a tv setup so no hmd just positional tracking on body and hands, i think he was working on an algorithim to track head orientaion to a small degree to look down/up or turn left/right like 20° each way so without taking your eyes off the tv/monitor you could move your head around, some crazy ideas.

i just hope they help me in Discord with my troubles soon, response time to others seems very random....
i missed part of what you said above, so it is possible for me to play games that require 6DOF with the remote i found so long as i have kinect sensor bar too? how does that work?

one game i really want to play is Job Simulator but i have a feeling I must stand if I want to play it, making using mouse and keyboard a little difficult.

yep. you can use kinect 360(v1) or a kinect one(v2) to give 180° "half roomscale" and use a snap rotation to get the other 180°. the kinect sensor with driver4vr can can give any hmd head tracking and and hand tracking with its skeletal model meaning it reads your body structure and puts the hmd and hands where they should be. without the need for other sensor or trackers. that controller you where looking at would give you all the buttons you'll need and the kinect will put the contoller where your hands are in 3d space. because that controller doesnt have magnetometer it cant track its rotation but you can tell driver4vr to take tracking data from your hmd and mimic your heads rotation to your controllers they always will point at what ever direction your looking in.

if you can find psmove controllers cheap enough i highly recommend them as they track pretty much 1:1 if you see the gorn video on that youtube account, right at the end you see me take my hmd off and put the controllers down but on the screen you can see my hands and head positions are still being tracked by the kinect

i see a lot of cords in that video, can the kinect be placed anywhere or does it need to be attached to the computer? the area around my computer desk is so crowded already and i have a desktop so it's not mobile. i'd take it into a different room if can go anywhere

the kinect has to be where the forward direction is in your play space and set atleast 1.5 meters away and its a good idea to have it places around eye height angled down. and it has to be plugged into your computer and its own power outlet but the adapter cable is quite long so it gives alot of slack you can get the adater cable pretty cheap for the v1 but the v2 is stupidly expensive. like would cost $150-$180 for it. which is why i went for t v1. if you havnt got the space honeslty your better off buy a wmr used on the cheap. like i said before if its all you can get because of you location/country then cool. but if you have the option to go consumer grade do it and save yourself alot of heartache
