Can I get rid of the blue box that appears around you in the new update?
Its rather annoying and it gets in the way while I'm playing

As for the floor boundry, you may need to install Advanced Settings (And some how get it working with the 1.1.3 update), then go to "Chaperone" and change the opacity/visibility to 0%. At least, that's what I have to do, the floor bounds option doesn't work for me.

Jeesus, can't they just put an off button? Most steam VR users are Oculus users, that would rather use the Oculus boundaries. Why they got to make stuff so difficult?

I edited the alpha to zero like the old work around, but it doesn't work any more.

From my experience with Oculus and Steam VR, the Steam VR boundries are off by default, if not, the only boundry that's visible is the floor boundry which can be turned off by the setting listed in the Settings menu for the Steam VR Dashboard.

That's not new. The chaperone system has been here since day one.

I don't think you can turn off the floor chaperone for Vive. So there was my solution:
// Removing the box on floor of Steam VR:
Advanced Settings, then go to 'Chaperone' and change the Fade Distance to 0.0. The Visibility slider doesn't work for me.

You can turn it off.

@"The Maddog" That's not helpful at all. How then?
No, I can't. Unless I do as I stated:

Trying to avoid digging up an old and dead topic, but to answer your question; Within the new SteamVR settings (since this post is rather old and only answers to the old UI) select "Play Area" > "Chaperone Style" set to "Floor Only" > "Always Show Floor Bounds" set to "Off" like the image here; https://i.imgur.com/l3WLTC9.png
This works with all HMDs that're hooked into SteamVR.

When you do this, the floor bounds will still be visible, but only within the SteamVR overlay. Once you close the overlay, the bounds are gone, no need for an external plugin like Advanced Settings, though still highly recommended. This works great for some people that would much rather turn off the boundries, but don't want to end up getting lost by accident so they have quick access to the boundries without dealing with the settings.

Thank you for your post trying to help with instructions. However I just tried that (again) and it doesn't remove the square from the floor when I close the SteamVR overlay. My method works for me:
"Removing the box on floor of Steam VR:
Advanced Settings, then go to 'Chaperone' and change the Fade Distance to 0.0. The Visibility slider doesn't work for me." And neither did setting "'Always Show Floor Bounds' set to 'Off'"

(There's useful info in old posts that are topical. Steam doesn't archive old threads like Reddit so I don't get the concern about "necro'ing." Plus if it was a problem it wouldn't be allowed. And I've offered a working solution.)

I'm unsure as to why the setting offered within SteamVR doesn't work for you, as it worked for me using a vive, oculus and index, tho I don't have the Oculus or Vive anymore to test this. I would assume after adjusting the settings within Advanced Settings it overrides the SteamVR settings, that was kinda my issue 2 years ago when trying the developer option. But other than that, I'm not sure, this setting has always worked for me since the release of the new UI.

I'm using a Vive 1st generation. I tried what you said including closing the overlay and even launching Skyrim VR but there it is unless I change the Fade distance in Advanced Settings > Chaperone to 0.0 (not possible in vanilla SteamVR). Thanks though
