New to VR - general questions (OSVR HDK2)
Hey! I'm new to VR-gaming and was hoping to get some input and tricks around here.

I've had the chance to get the OSVR HDK2 rather cheap so I thought I might try it out, has been an interesting experience so far :special: I know its by far not the best end-user-product for VR, but I like tinkering around a lot.

1) Since I've never had the chance to test a HMD VR system so far: is it supposed to look a bit "washed" and stuff compared to regular monitors? Am I simply not used anymore to the 3D-effects? (Played Senua's Sacrifice VR for a bit)

2) Are games supposed to show the name and the resolution settings of my monitor rather than my HMD or is there something wrong about that?

3) Does anyone have general hints about configuration and optimization (of my specific HMD)?
I found some threads on \r and stuff, but since I've got it to a working state I haven't found much else to do besides playing :)

4) Any suggestions on must-play VR games?

Hey. I´m about to maybe buy one on the used market. Are you still using it? I just want to try VR and for around 100,- Euros I think it will be a good deal but otherwise 100,- Euros are quite much IF I will not be able to use this device at all.

As for now it seems, that OSVR is dead but if it would still be usable, I would give it a try.

OSVR HDK2 lacks motion controllers, so it's pretty useless for most games, if you think to get it for gaming. You could use it for racing games with separate wheel controller, but almost all games need motion controllers nowadays, except games that can be played with a gamepad (old obsolete games from 2016). You can enhance OSVR with 3rd party controllers like Nolo VR, but you probably won't get them for that 100 euros and they are not that good as Vive/Oculus controllers.

You could get used original Vive, Oculus Rift CV1, or WMR headset starting from around 200-250 euros. That's probably cheapest you can get a headset that has proper tracking and motion controllers, and can be used for most games.

Thanks for your reply. I see what you mean. As what I know now, these actual vr headsets use room tracking but to use this you need quite some free place right?

I found some Razer Hydra here for 70,- Euro. These should work with actual games?? And would not need that much space in my room?
