Samsung HMD Odyssey vs Oculus RIft S

I'm on a budget of $400 and I would like to know which one is better. The Samsung Odyssey is almost $200 cheaper and with the rest of that money I would get a new GPU. I would be mainly playing Half-Life: Alex, Superhot VR, and Beat Saber. Which one would be the better option.

I had an O+, had to return it due to defect, got Rift S, returned that after an hour and got another O+. The Rift S is an overall better experience in terms of tracking and support, but I liked the O+ visuals much more with the anti-SDE filter and deep OLED blacks/colors. More immersive. Very dark scenes with few lit objects such as horror games looked a bit too washed out on the Rift S for me. But if you don't care about that, you will have better tracking on the Rift S. That said, WMR tracking is fine 99% of the time aside from overhead throwing. People really exaggerate how bad it is.

Honestly?

I'd recommend the Rift S since it has better games (and more exclusives) than the WMR. Plus, WMR is dying, so expect WMR to be discontinued somewhere in 2020. Games are less functional when buying games off of the Microsoft Store (according to reviews on the Superhot VR page on the Microsoft Store). Hell, you can play both SteamVR games and also games on the Oculus Store.

If I were you, I'd save up for a Rift S, or better yet, an Oculus Quest (since that Oculus Link add-on is coming later on)

EDIT: Yeah, if you get a Rift S, buy Asgard's Wrath. It's a fun exclusive. From what I heard, there aren't any WMR exclusives. Even if there were, they will never stack up when compared to Oculus exclusives.

I just also want to add, since you're on a budget, buying an Oculus Quest. You can still play Superhot VR and Beat Saber, and with that new Oculus Link add-on, you can connect your Oculus Quest to your PC and play Half-Life Alyx*.

Overall, if you're on a budget....either get an Oculus Rift S or an Oculus Quest. You won't regret it.

100% this, especially the part regarding advantages of the RiftS and WMR possibly being put on hiatus by MS/WMR manufacturers.

But you may want to act quick. Most stores, online and local pickup, are sold out of RiftS and Quest.

I know the Rift S is better but I currently have a RX 560 2Gb, so I wouldn't be able to run the games well. I'm considering either a GTX 1650 Super or a GTX 1660 Super to replace my current GPU with. I would still play games in desktop mode, so I think the GPU would be the better investment.

Just a warning, VR games need a lot of processing power to run in a satisfactory manner, so dont skimp on the GPU. I wouldnt rush to get VR just yet if your pc isnt upto it. Id suggest using the money to buy a better GPU n then save for a gd VR headset... otherwise your more n likely be dissapointed
