308 Error
Everytime I try to run SteamVR it comes up with the error 308: "A key component of SteamVR isn't working properly." I've tried everything it said, but it doesn't work. I have recently uninstalled Steam and reinstalled it on a different hard drive, so something must have messed it up during the transfer.

I fixed it, unfortunately you're gonna have to uninstall steam and reinstall it back onto C: drive.
Make sure to uninstall it through the folder though.
what do you mean by uninstall it through the folder?

also how do you do a clean steam install without having to redownload all your games?

i have games installed on several different hdd's too.

will i be able to just poiint steam back to those folders to find the games?
thanks

Now SteamVR runs on the old place (not drive C:), but now I have trouble with room measering (C201)
When I make the room measering it runs well till the end, but SteamVR says "not ready".

You might need to consult htc vive support, they have a live chat support here https://www.vive.com/us/support/contactus/

Did you uninstall steamvr and steam folders from a drive and reinstall it to another drive?

@Retr0: I don't have a vive or a rift. Their support doesn't help.

Ohhhhh, so you just can't run your games anymore? If I'm wrong give me a run down of whats wrong and if you've done or changed anything lately.

I can play the games on my screen too (if they're not VR only).
But if you ever have played your games in VR you will love it and play all time with it.
Have you ever played "Subnautica" or "Elite Dangerous" in VR and on your screen?
You will love to play them in VR!

I think, I had killed the problem.
I ended steam and rerun it with admin rights.
With admin rights I haven't the error 308.
i havnt had the error myself since i replaced my PSU so my overclock/ voltage was stable again. the 12v rail was dipping into 10.8v regularly and sometimes crashing my pc. even with overclocks off and extra hdd's fans disconnected etc. the extra power demand of the vr headset was just too much for my failing PSU.
i then had to run sfc /scannow and the dism commands. that did nothing. so on a whim i decided to unninstal and reinstall the windows mixed reality tool inside windows. everything has run smooth since :)
my psu must have been causing my cpu to write errors, corrupting stuff and causing stuff like steam vr to crash alot. it sucked.

although it could still be back/ may have been a coincidence. i havnt played that much vr since. well see.
