Sitting when using the Valve Index Vr
Hello,

I have the Valve Index VR headset and I would like to set it up in a sitting position as I cannot stand for long sessions.

I went thru the setup process and when I use the headset it looks like my head is on the floor, can someone please assist on what I need to do to allow it to work correctly?

thank you

Assuming you are talking about your home enviroment, you dont need to to do anything special for setting up for seated play. You just need to run the setup according to the play space you have. I'd suggest running the setup process again so you can calibrate where the floor is. Sounds lie something was off last time around.

If it's spesific games however, (such as a flying or racing game) then there will be a recenter / re position headset command in game. Just check the game menu to see what the key is and/or remap accordingly.

I have a sort of related issue. When I open up the steam vr menu to reset seated position, it doesnt recenter me to the centre of the chaperone. Do I need to use the in game one for this to work?

This is somthing vr developers really need to work on. Fixed head height and a crouch button ,stop with the arm swinging head bobbing cra p and let us move with joysticks like we have for decades. No one wants to crawl on the floor and keep banging controllers into the ground to pick stuff up.now that my rant is over.

I think the problem lies with the individual games . I too cannot stand for long periods and have issues with alot of games not having any options. Even with the head height fixed some games dont have a turn option ,you have to turn your body . its a pain is the a es es.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help.

Just an FYI I reran the room setup and this time around instead of standing and putting the vr headset on my desk then like the instructions state then instead,I sat down and placed the vr headset on my head. I then entered 71 inches for my height (5'11) and then relaunched the VR game.

This has helped resolve my issue, but as mysterio stated it would be more useful if the developers simply added a seated option.

I hope this helps other people as well.

Thanks!
