Valve Index NVIDIA Driver Problem
Hi!
I'm still trying to get my index to run, SINCE Friday and it's not working..

All drivers on the system (MSI GT72VR 7RE Dominator Pro with a GTX1070) updated now, nvidia driver version : 430.86

Cant get the index to run at all, steam vr crash after like 10sec with 'Headset Disconncted - HDMI Error'
(I have video in that 10sec)
(Restart Steam, unplug all cables dont work)
Tried all suggestions like reset the USB in steamvr

Downgrade the nvidia driver to version 417.71
The index is connected and video is working fine, without any connection (steamvr errors) problems.

The audio is not working ingame
(Except the background music in orbusvr but no voice or sfxsound) no ingame sound in any games at all.

I can use discord and the system sounds without any problems.
I guess for ingamesound I need the last nvidia driver..

Both situations are tested with steamvr and steamvr beta. All firmware update

A support ticket is open, but no help yet, really really disappointing experience with the new headset

To that I have a billion sparkling pixels in my view, and the cabel is getting hot... proably cable is broken....

Welcome to the club! Audio issues seem fairly common and varied with the Index so far. Hopefully a hotfix is in the works.

I'm right there with you guys. Mine actually worked for about 4 hours with no issues and then bam! No longer even turns on. Steam vr crashes as soon as I try to boot it up. Went back to using my vive with index controllers and it runs great. I want to use my headset again sooo bad but nothing seems to fix it. Went from basic troubleshooting all the way to redownloading windows and factory rebooting my lighthouses.

Exactly I did everything, from the basics to a fresh windows install... can only use the headset without audio in games with the old nvidia driver. .. which is sooooo 'nice'...*irony off*

Hello,
Here's an update how far I am atm with my headset

-Newst nvidia driver - hdmi/hdcp error
-417.71 driver - audio and video with white sparkling pixels

The support sent me a new cable for the headset and now

-Newst nvidia driver - steamvr error 436
-417.71 driver, audio and video with way worse pixel sparkling now even with green and red

(Tested old cable again, and back to the old status)

Sooo yeah my index experience is still great so far...

are you all using MSIs? Using the HMD for the first time and getting the HDCP error

What port are you using for the UMD, i'd recommend the thunderbolt 3 port over mini DP

I got the hdcp problem on GT73evr with 1080 gtx, i will try to update the vbios, and instead of displayport i try thunderbolt. If it works i give an update.

I change the graphic card to a new RTX 2070 SUPER and I stay have problems, now red and green pixels are dancing in my valve index and its like someone eat popcorn in my ears before the video crash in the headset but not on the computer's screen

Thunderbolt is working for me, no need for vbios change, according to msi.
