I own a Vibe and a Rift. The VIbe became garbage in less THAN A YEAR. Light houses (Senors) failed and are way to exspensive to replace. The light houses are pure garbage. HTC support is a real Joke and not worth dealing with. Those index controllers are not worth the cost if the rest of the unit fails.
I still Use my Rift and it has been going strong for 2 years now. No complaints.
My original Vive lighthouses are still going strong. Never and issue, and they offer the industry's "best in class" tracking according to many well respected people who use them a ton. And if you get them off ebay as I did, they are cheaper that you paid for the older Rift's cameras.
As for the controllers, the Index ones are amazing. Not because of the finger tracking, but because of everything else. The tracking, the strap, the extra button, both a stick and a touch pad, and awesome battery life. If I broke them tomorrow, I'd buy them again.
All in all, Vive/Rift/Index/WNR, they are all great options. And the fact that we now have multiple competitors, only means we'll get even better options next year!
But as for the Index, until you try it first hand, you'll never fully understand how much of an upgrade it is.
