vorpX vs Vireio Perception

I've been using NVidia 3D vision for a long time and I liked how you could basically play any game in stereo 3D with it. I'm aware that VR is sooooo much more than just that, so there's no need to remind me... Anyway, I got my first VR kit with the Index yesterday and I've read about 2 utilities to play games in VR 3D that don't actually support it, which are Perception and vorpX. Perception seems to require some getting into before you can make it work and also dead for over 3 years (does it even work with Index?). So, is vorpX generally the better option, if you are willing to spend the money? Are there reasons why Perception might be better? I don't know if I should even bother with Perception or go straight to vorpX.
