When I received it, I discovered an issue (that I think is a firmware bug) and contacted HTC's support, which advised me to send the device to a support centre in Poland, for replacement or refund. It took nearly 2 months to get a refund and I had to open a dispute via PayPal, which was rejected (see below why), and eventually issue a notice for legal action against HTC to get the refund paid into my account.
When you buy from HTC's site, it forwards you to Digital River Ireland Ltd (for EU purchases), ie you don't buy it directly from HTC. If you have a technical issue, Digital River Ireland does not provide support (it's a logistics company), you have to get in touch with HTC's support. When you do, they ask you to send the product to a third company and, eventually, you end up unprotected: PayPal may approve a refund but requires you to return the product to the merchant: Digital River Ireland. It does not accept that the order was placed in HTC's web site and the defective item is in HTC's control. Since you don't have the product (and obviously can't return it twice), you're not eligible for PayPal's protection (similar issues would likely occur with other payment methods).
Long story short, I cancelled my plan to build a full body tracking system based on HTC's Trackers for simply I found that the company uses controversial after sales support procedures and cannot be relied upon.
I still think it should be possible to build a full body tracking system, but haven't tested it and I do hope Valve releases its own Trackers sometime in the future.
Yeah, right, cool story. Next time do me a favor and don't make me read a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of completely irrelevant text only to after that say that you have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea.
