Desktop in SteamVR Home
Hi!
I just got a vive headset and started messing arround with stuffs.
I installed opera browser (developer) to watch 360 videos and it works just as it should.
The thing is when you exit VRmode from it you end up in steamvr home, and as you know using the dashboard desktop from steamvr is not an option (plus i dual monitor).

I would like to have a big screen showing my desktop in steamVR home (instead or in front of the big screen there is on the wall for exemple). I'd like it to be saved as is, so every time i get in Home i have it ready to be used. Is there anyway to do that?

Or at least a good dashboard desktop... I saw virtual desktop as one but it seems you have to launch it everytime you enter the steamvr home...?

(Anyway I didn't try Vr Toolbox, virtual desktop or OVRdrop so if a user can tell me about my idea/ try it with those, it would be greatly appreciated!)

Thank you!

Thanks, i know the app, 'im just not sure if it would do what i want and i mean if not i'm not really interested in the rest of its features. Bigscreen is already nice and Opera is perfectly working for 360 videos...
So does virtual desktop really allow me that? Or is it just about the dashboard desktop you told me that? Btw, do you have to launch v.d. every time you get in Home to have that dashboard desktop?
Thank you for replying :)

SOOO! :)

I tried VR toolbox with homeloader (allows you to set another app to start with than steamvr home). It was really nice, allowed me to set a nice room with my huge desktop screens and all (set up camera screens is a really nice feature btw), use opera vr and go back in vr toolbox.
So it's an option.

But if you prefer the steamvr home, as i do (more interactive, easy teleport, quiet mountain place with outside access...), then virtual desktop could be a better option, with its dashboard desktop implementation.
You can set steamvr to launch it when starting (properties, dashboard apps or something like that), than you have the virtual desktop in the steam dashboard which is way better than the original one.
Then you can use operavr and come back in Home, then just open the dashboard.
OR!!! You can grab the desktop screen to get it out of the dashboard (then it follows you, if you teleport for exemple, so no dropping on the wall) and use it. If you go in opera vr it follows you, so you can stay in here and put the next video without coming back in steam home.
So that's the best alternative for me.
Thank you for your help, happy new year! :p

I know I am reviving an old thread, but I think this might be the answer you were looking for. If you didn’t know already as I didn’t. https://steamcommunity.com/games/250820/announcements/detail/1657768916965210204 I remembered this question back when I was searching. Then came across this later on.
