Always stuck on floor?

I've gone through SteamVR setup 3 times now, and each time it places me on the floor. It renders me unable to play things like The Lab.

For example the height part says I can place it on the floor and select 0. I did that. Same issue. I also tried wearing it on my head, and selected my height. Same issue.

I have the Oculus Rift, what am I missing?

Try rerunning the setup and put the controllers face down a couple of feet apart on the floor, and the headset facing up so the camera is looking at your ceiling.

If that doesn't work, try putting it on the floor then going to SteamVR > Settings > Developer > [Room and Tracking] and click "Quick Calibrate"

Set the compatibility mode for Lab to Windows 7. This fixes Portal Stories : VR too.
