Xbox 360 controller not working in steam vr
I saw there was no recent posts about this so I created a new one. I see that its supose to have support but doesn't work. I removed it from the big screen like I read on some fourms and that made A button make a clicking sound but nothing else works. when I use the steam vr configeration it doesn't work at all. has any one found a fix to this. I am using trinus vr with steam vr. Head movement everything else works besides the xbox 360 controller. Any help I would be greatful.

You might need to tick the Xbox Configeration Support box in Big Picture Mode... settings.... controllers.
ok I reenabled it so what profile should I go for steamvr offiial or make a new one?
Hey Steve, fellow Steve here. I can get you up and running. There's a quick fix that should get your controller working in VR and any other Steam games which give a problem with a Xbox controller since the change.

Setting up Guide button: (Required for later step)
- Open a game, any game, and hit the guide button on your controller. (You don't need to use a game. Your browser window should work as well.)

- A bar should pop up asking if you are playing a game. Check the box that you are, this will bring up the Windows 10 game bar.

- On the game bar, go to the settings gear and deselect "Open Game Bar using (Guide) On Controller" as well as uncheck "Remember this as a game". The window will automatically close and save your changes.

*** Avoid going into other settings and disabling DVR. The method here works on a fresh Win 10/Steam install and doesn't disable functions so you can still use them if you want. Just activate them with shortcut keys instead of the guide button.

Remove Steam Controller configs:
(Option 1 - in game non-VR)
- Start a game in Steam Big Picture Mode

- Hit the guide button and select the third option, "Controller Options"

- Uncheck "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers"

- Hit "OK" at the bottom of the dialog. If you hit B to exit the window it won't save the change.

-Return to game! It will work without a restart

(Option 2 - in game VR Vive) [See Below for Rift]
- Start a game in Steam VR

- Hit the guide button and navigate to the page for your game. Select 'Manage Game' and then select 'Controller Options'

- Uncheck "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers"

- Hit "OK" at the bottom of the dialog. If you hit B to exit the window it won't save the change.

-Return to game!

!!! If you are using an Oculus Rift, before starting Steam VR, navigate to your game in Big Picture Mode and change the setting under "Manage Game". Then start the title. You can do this for any game you want/need to adjust the setting before launch.

Your controller should be working normally now. I can't guarantee it's the same problem but unchecking "Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers" has fixed literally every title, VR and non-VR, I was having problems with. Getting the guide button working properly is also handy for many reasons.

I hope this helps either now or in the future!

Edit: Added note about using a browser window to adjust Game Bar. Changed "Non-Steam Games" to "Non-Steam Controllers"

one last thing, not sure if it has direct or x input, play with the switch and this should help. pressing the green button turns on the controller if its wireless.
