B must see C and vice versa. If the distance is too large between them, they will most likely not see each other and C will just standby until it can see B. Use the link cable when the distance is tol large or other stuff is causing trouble in this area.
They recommend they should be tilted between 30-45 degrees.
Yeah, and I had them both within that range, but I still had to adjust one of them. I didn't measure the angle, but I'd estimate I started at around 35deg and adjusted to 40deg, Just a tiny tweak downward fixed it. It didn't look like the light fixture would be in the way, but it must have been.
They will still see each other. But the FOV laser-cone is different of course.

You are not allowed to block the view from base to base. If you do, always use the sync cable..
Apparently it does matter. It can make the difference between them seeing each other or not.
