Theater mode not working (FOUND A FIX)

For non vr games you have a option to launch in theater mode but when i launch it it dose not work

It just runs the game on my desktop and in vr im still stuck at VR Home

Even tried rolling out of the beta and still it dose not work

Anyone else having this issuie

I found a fix

opt out of steam vr beta make sure its unchecked

opt out of steam client beta

restart steam and now start steam vr

steam vr now should show up in your libiary on your desktop go to properties under general click Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active

SAME! I've tried a lot of suggestions online and nothing is working wtf!

Same here, no game seems to be working, the game launches on my flat screen, and I just get a loading screen in my oculus.

have you tried launching from steam library in the headset? like opening the menu, going to steam (it looks like big picture interface) and launching a game from there

got it to work with lethal league and payday 2, using an oculus dk1

same. i've tried everything i can find. forcing with -vr2dgames in launch options. making sure games are in fullscreen mode. opting into steamvr beta. running steam in admin mode. nothing works. would really like to play in theatre mode again!

I'm having the same issue, trying to run Fallout 4 in theater mode and when I select "play in theater mode" it opens the launcher on my desktop and when I launch the game (by clicking play on the launcher on my desktop) it doesn't go into theater mode. Furthermore, at the bottom of the steam VR menu when I open it, it says "exiting" and stays that way in a sort of buffering state. Also another note is that I was able to run Fallout 4 in theater mode not too long ago, a matter of a few months, and now for some reason it no longer works

I think they need to patch it or something, apparently it was working some time ago, I just recently got a vive and it has not worked at all for me, exhausted all the options I could find.

Anyone have windows 7 with this issue? I think that may be a problem because other similar programs like Virtual Desktop don't work with windows 7 due to some kind of limitations with it or something.

I have the same exact issue as Jabool described. I'm on windows 10, not sure Windows 7 is causing the issue.
