Haptic Feedback Motor, linear resonant actuator (LRA) in the Vive controller to be used as a Audio Vibration speaker
Please can anyone tell me if it's possible to use the LRA in the Vive controller as a Vibration speaker, if so would it be possible to use full ingame audio and use a H/Pass filter on the audio source.
the reason I'm asking! Well I conducted a little experiment the other day by sticking a micro vibration speaker to both Vive controller then split the audio signal 3 ways coming out of the Vive headset and then ran a 3.5mm audio cable down each arm to the Vibration speakers fitted to the Vive controllers, by doing this I found a greater sense of immersion with the sub frequencies felt in my hands corresponding to the sound in the headphones. I also tried this wirelessly but unfortunately there was too much latency on the bluetooth modules I was using. I understand this would lower the battery life on the Vive controllers when in use due to the LRA being used in this way but it does add to the vr experience and also takes away the need for a expensive Sub - Pac Vest which is required for that little deeper immersion. Any information or feedback would be gratefully received.
