Error 306-307 fix. (for now)
Hi, i'm one of the guys who had problems getting Vr to work this saturday night. And it started buggin out after i updated my Nvidia drivers. I just tried installing the an older Driver released 25 of April searching drivers on their website.
Choose your card here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx to find the second newest driver. It worked for me atleast.

this happened to me too. I updated the nvidia driver for my desktop and keep saying 306-307 error. However, my laptop also updated and it worked fine. I tried to use the April 25 driver for my desktop and crashes when I enter steamvr.

This worked for me, thanks. Guess I'll have to stick with the April release for now.

This solved my issue. New Nvidia update made steamvr unoperable. Rolling back to 381.89 solved the issue.

Same problem here. I've not used used my headset for a while, but saw there was a 360 video addon for steamVR in steam. I installed that and assumed it caused the problem. Uninstalling it didn't resolve anything so as geforce experience software wont let you rollback your driver (!) I uninstalled the latest NVIDIA driver in 'programs and features' in windows 10. I then downloaded the 381.89 as mentioned by others and problem semi resolved, "semi" because I will obviously want to update my drivers, but can't.

The Error is "A key component of SteamVR isnt working properly" (306). and Error starting steamVR SteamVR failed to initialize for unknown reasons. ERROR: shared IPC compositor invalid connect response" (307). The result is a black screen in the headset.

PS. I'm using a gtx 760 with my vive and have no problems with any of my 50+ VR games (except some stuttering in The Lab), though it is below the minimum VR requirement.
