Dear [REDACTED],
I write on behalf of Electronic Arts Inc. and its development studio DICE or, in other words, "those guys that make Battlefield."
We've noticed that Revive Network has several projects and websites devoted to being a Medic by "reviving" older Battlefield games, including Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142. It's* great to see your enthusiasm for these titles. Not to brag, but we too get the nostalgia chills when booting up these classic entries in the Battlefield franchise.
We need a favor though: we must ask that you stop throwing down Ammo Crates. In other, more legal-styled terms, please stop distributing copies of our game clients and using our trademarks, logos, and artwork on your sites. Thing is, your websites may easily mislead visitors to believe that you are associated or affiliated with EA - we're the only ones that get to wear the "Official EA" dog tag. Since you're Battlefield community members, we know that you are smart and helpful, and will respect that we must protect our intellectual property rights in the franchise.
Please drop us a line to let us know you're on board with this. Should you have any questions regarding all this, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at [REDACTED][at]ea[dot]com.
Thanks,
[REDACTED]

Maybe I'm shedding some light on a false hope, but there's nothing here that states the revive network team cannot host their own servers. Just have people buy a non-steam copy, like myself, which is unfortunately out of print. As well as, redesign the website to remove any mention of the Electronic Arts brand. (Oddly enough, the site exclaims "This web site is not endorsed by or affiliated with Electronic Arts Inc. or DICE. All trademarks and copyrights belong to their respective owners". Yet, that's not enough.) Hence, the executable is only a modified client. (However, EA can refer the word "game clients" as broad as they want though.) Don't worry; I expect rebuttals that will try to refute this statement. But please keep in mind, the website was hosting pure game files and allowed people to download the games for free.
So, if EA didn't kill it, they were on their way to kill themselves anyway.
But maybe it will be shutdown as well, it's sad...
To me, that's the only way to rebuy a game from them now...
But that shouldn't happen for years, it doesn't make sense currently...
BF2 is legit and work like a charm, just better, i played 2 rounds on a ranked server but with a nice modded Karkand...

I'm back to BF2 since 1 week, and with the "reviveproject" there was some nice servers with others cool maps for infantery, like Jalalabad & Mashtuur...
But this "BF2Hub" seems better and faster to create/backup accounts...i found addons servers with players on them...
I didn't try until now and the shutdown because "revive project" worked and was a big data with a growing community...
Otherwise, ye i'm still sad, because i wanted to play BF2142 as well, and it's definetely pretty much dead now...beside the dethklokclan community...
BF2142 isnt dead though?

i literally play on it every day and its active
Ye i see this, thanks...
But those files are here and i don't think it will gathers players, while BF2Hub there and visible/known...
If you have the launcher installed, it still work until...i don't know because the maintenance of it will not assured anymore by guys from the "revive project" now, and files are going to die in the futur...
I lost them brother
Would appreciate a reupload.
