Why is the Maximum speed 110m/s?
Its a bit restrictive if I want to get somewhere quickly, a planet for example that is 500km away.

Is there any way to increase the max speed?

You could also build a Jump Drive into your ship, get almost anywhere in 30 seconds.
Sooh Jun 7, 2019 @ 5:36am
the jump drive will save you a lots of time, but i agree that 110M/s is a bit unrealisitc when you fly with a ship at low altitude! you expect to have a feeling of speed but there is none!

I tried with mods and the game doesnt support well when you exceed the 110M/s Speed.

The limit exists for a reason. Let's hope they find the solution for higher speed support.

So going higher than 110m/s does what exactly? I am on a server where our admin bumped up the speed of small vessels to 150m/s along with jetpacks, while keeping large ships at 100m/s

The reasoning was to give smaller craft some sort of advantage in speed over large vessels. Just curious as to what could potentially happen on a server if you increase these max speeds?

Have seen many servers allow players to go magnitudes faster (IE:was on 1 server that I was doing 400-500+ m/s)

Hi, block physics are not calculating while moving faster than 100m/s, it gives perfo problems and why the SE programmers decided to lock the speed.

Ship will/may go through other ships, like a ghost while flying = block loses their "physics" and the game is not able to calculate the damage at that speed ...

So they limited the speed for this kind of reasons > perfo problems <

as always = testing needed to know more.

On lower end rigs, if you go to fast the game engine does not always render in time, resulting in you phasing part way though objects before they render in. The game then catches up and you get treated to a retrospective spat.

^ At some speed, in game mechanisms/ multigrid creations/ setups begin to selfdestruct; I assume its due to positioning being calculated suddenly as intersecting in the other grid thus forcing collision mechanics SE is known for. Additionally various items are distance spawn related, such as asteroids. So at a given speed asteroids will begin to spawn directly in front of you/ inside you/ behind you. Tgis can lead to a very immeadiate loss of ship. In a no asteroid world, you can theoretically uncap the speed limit, but yet again past a certain point in multiplayer, you can just pass another player, and a course correction would be unfeasable to accomplish before that player leaves your detection range.

In a single player game, I had issues with a mere double-top-speed mod. Those little supply drops ended up punching through the surface of the planet, sometimes leaving a little dimple in the ground, maybe a little scrap, but the rest of the drop went straight to the center of the planet. Higher top speeds doesn't make 'chutes open any earlier.

Ever imagine hitting the ground at Mach 4, or going 32,000 meters a second then this mod is for you, it's my Favorite! (Beast Rigs Required for best effect)

Just don't forget that you will have problems going faster than 100m/s

But I know some are using wisely and they manage very well.

Engineer Tip

I manage without the Speed Mod ;)

I use Jump Drive module to move my ships in space :

also Jump Rings to transport more :

and I don't move on planet cause I found the best spot for a mining station :selike:

^ Vector dependent, I've worn through many shoes running at 280km/h, but my helmet is very squishy when somebody turns the ship on a dime.

That's why there is a limit.
