Description
This is the ship speed mod to end all ship speed mods.

A fully configurable Max Ship Speed mod, that allows you the player (or server administrator) to set the maximum ship speed for both small and large ships to any value you desire. You can also set an additional thrust boost that applies to all thrusters, allowing your ships to accelerate faster or slower. Missile speed can also be adjusted, allowing faster missiles with your faster ships. Remote Control - Auto Pilot maximum Limit, allowing auto piloted ships to travel faster.


Steps to use:
1. Subscribe.
2. Add to game world.
3. Start your game (and join your game if it is a server).
4. Set your maximum ship speeds by use an in game chat command (press Enter to get chat console).
examples:
/configspeed LargeShipSpeed 850
/configspeed SmallShipSpeed 420

5. Save your game.
6. Reload (single/multiplayer) or Restart (dedicated server) your game.
7. Enjoy the new maximum speeds.


Restrictions:
Maximum Ship Speeds can only be set from 1 to 150,000,000 m/s.
Unfortunately I believe the Havok engine has been limited to 999,999 m/s, so this may be the maximum you will see displayed.

* Missile Speeds have been limited from 1 to 600 m/s. (This may be changed upon review later if the game supports higher speeds for these sized objects.)
* The MissileMin must always be less than or equal to MissileMax.
* Missile launch speeds are *absolute* not relative. It does not matter what speed or direction the ship is travelling at, the missile when fired will launch at the specified launch speed (MissileMin).

* AutoPilot will still restrict the speed of the ship based on the thrusters available.
* AutoPilot speed limits cannot be set individually for Large and Small ships, so it can display ranges that do not match your Large Ship Maximum or Small Ship Maximum.
* AutoPilot maximum limit settings in existing RemoteControl cubes, if they have an existing high value, they *will* be reset if you change to a lower value when saving and restarting.

* The game limits a player character's maximum flying speed based on the Character Definition in the Characters.sbc file. It is taken from the largest value of either MaxSprintSpeed, MaxRunSpeed and MaxBackrunSpeed. It is used as a boost speed above the speed of a grid. As MaxSprintSpeed is the largest at 10, you will see a 10m/s increase.
The Female and Male characters also have individual maximum speeds.


Warnings:
If you are running a server, you can force a save with the hidden command "+save".
Once you have saved your game, you must restart it immediately, otherwise any players that join during this time may experience unusual sync issues with the maximum speed. (At this stage I have only observed the GUI displaying unusual numbers).


Chat Commands:
In multiplayer this is restricted to Server Admins.
Use additional parameters to set new speeds in the chat command.
/configspeed
Display the current settings and the new settings to be applied when saved.
/configspeed ResetAll
Reset all settings back to standard stock values.
/configspeed LargeShipSpeed 850
Change large ship max speed to the value.
/configspeed SmallShipSpeed 420
Change small ship max speed to the value.
/maxspeed 550
Change both small and large ship max speed to the value.
/configspeed EnableThrustRatio on
Enable the use of a thrust boost ratio or turn it off. This applies the set ThrustRatio to all Thrusters. Ion thrusters, Hydrogen thrusters, Atmospheric thrusters, and all modded thrusters.
/configspeed ThrustRatio 10
Set the Ratio of the thrust boost. More than 1 for faster acceleration. Less than 1 for slower acceleration.
The value must be from 0.1 to 1000.
EnableThrustRatio must be turned on.
/configspeed MissileMin 420
Change initial launch speed of missiles to the value.
/configspeed MissileMax 600
Change target speed of missiles to the value.
/configspeed AutoPilotLimit 800
Change Auto Pilot maximum Limit. This is the highest value on the slider of the Remote Control - Speed Limit.
/configspeed ContainerDeployHeight 600
Change parachute Deploy height of (unknown signal) Drop Containers. Ranges from 200m (default is 200) to 5000 m.
/configspeed RespawnDeployHeight 1000
Change parachute Deploy height of Planet Respawn Pods. Ranges from 200m (default is 300) to 5000 m.

Nope, it's hardcoded.
The higher speed limit is so you're able to move around on ships moving at speed. Otherwise you'll be back to the bad old days where hopping out of your seat at max speed got you flung against the back of your ship and killed, with no hope of ever recovering the vehicle.

Is there a way to set a separate limit for jetpack speed? I was hoping to have my character stay at 110, and increase ship speed only.

this mod appears to break the vanilla velocity direction indicator on the HUD. this also happens with other speed mods

Does anyone know of a torch compatible speed mod that doesnt break the skybox? And one that is Space Just Got Real compatible. And that can be configured atleast by editing some XML.

So does Torch break this then? On my DS running torch I have this mod installed and nothing else but the commands don't do anything they just appear in the chat like a message. My player is set to admin. Works fine in single player

Even after changing the autopilot limit, the autopilot seems to still never go past 100m/s

No, it moves at whatever grid type has the top speed... +10.
It's hardcoded so you don't get thrown back when exiting a ship moving faster than the jetpack speed cap.
That used to happen in older versions of the game.
