how to get a full screen!!!!!!

im trying to play this garbage but when i try to increase the resolution the screen is smaller them my ♥♥♥♥...

Take it easy there. Have you installed the patch 1.3? It will add the widescreen resolution support to the game and fix plenty of other issues with the game.

The Steam's 1.2 version only supports 4:3 resolutions just like every other older game out there. Most widescreen monitors only handle reliably 1024x768 4:3 resolution even if they're capable of displaying 1080p 16:9 in widescreen. If you select an incompatible resolution the game will attempt it and when it fails to set the mode it then selects a safe default of 640x480. Common thing for any older Quake engine based game.

If the problem isn't the resolution but the render size then use the numpad plus and numpad minus to increase/decrease resolution and hide/display the HUD while in the game. This is normal thing for majority of the early Quake engine based games.

In default bindings the HUD works with K, L and ; keys.

You've not followed the instructions if it still says that you're in version 1.2. That's not a fault of the game really.

Look, you download the 1.3, extract it into the DK folder, and overwrite everything your archive program asks. It's a very simple thing to do. If the game says it's in 1.2, you've not done this properly.

That doesn't matter. I have all my machines dual booting at least one 64-bit Windows and the game works with the patch. I even have one 32-bit Vista and it works there. I also have GNU/Linux installed and the game works there under both 32-bit and 64-bit kernels too with appropriate build.

No offence but it's just you and your inability to understand the instructions. The game is not at fault here. And you cannot set widescreen resolutions in 1.2 through the console because it doesn't support that.

EDIT: I'll probably do a visual guide for doing it. It's apparent that you're probably not a capable of understanding English language well enough to read the instructions. Maybe you could follow images then.

2) Despite all negtive talking I liked the game. But since I am with this supefly ..... Is there a chance to get rid off him? A mod? A cheat? The game was hard enough, but to save my own ass plus his ass and to hear constantly his kiddy talking - thats too much

Here's the installation instructions for 1.3 I've written that are bit out of date but mostly still applicable. It's also a general guide for new Daikatana players about stuff I think people have to know before getting into the game:

Short version of instructions: Unpack the 1.3 package into the Daikatana's root folder and replace all files your uncompression software asks about.

2) Yes. The latest version of 1.3 allows player to complete the whole game without the sidekicks. However the 1.3 also fixes the sidekick HP so you don't have to babysit them anymore as closely. It also fixes the sidekick nodes and path finding so they won't get stuck anymore.

I don't know if you can only disable the sidekick voices. I find the voices funny instead of annoying but if you don't like that stuff then there's the option to disable the sidekicks in 1.3 in main menu when starting a new game. However the game was meant to be played with the sidekicks making comments about things surrounding player and giving insights into the game world so for full experience I'd recommend you play with the sidekicks.
