Nice Day for Fishing is a fishing RPG chock full of meta humor.

Pros:
-Unique story concept
-All the different fish types have different attack patterns which is nice.
-This does scratch a collector's itch.
-Circles on the map to let you know where to go for your quests.
Cons:
-You can only check your fish collecting progress/guide from a statue in one area, I feel as though QoL that's something that should be easily accessible from a menu.
-There's only really three zones in the game. Each zone does have deeper areas that you get to explore later, but it feels like you're always just going back and forth between the same 3 zones.
-Lots of travel downtime. Lots of running back and forth across the map, and going through shallower depths to get the deeper areas every time you cast a line.
-The meta humor does get old/played out.

Overall, this is a neat little fishing game, that is just too full of typical rpg timewasting mechanics. It's not bad in premise, but I think it does need some QoL adjustments and sharpening up. I feel like by the 66% mark I was ready to move on. The very mechanics that they joke about also end up holding the game back.

Game ain't super bad, but I was expecting way more from a Team 17 game about Baelin (Viva La Dirt League/Epic NPC man).

I think you could consider the game like a bad attempt at a fishing metroivania game, since there's a lot of back and forth, with not that much changes to the game's mechanics. It lacks something, to make the repeating task of traveling to get a fish/item and back to the village to simply go back to get something more at the same place. Yes, they're teleports, but you can't unlock them until you're near the end of the game (and you need to unlock both ways, so twice the required items).

You can easily manage to 100% the game with all achievments under 30 hours (and one of those achievment needs lot of grinding).

Funny parody of MMOs. The fishing is fun, though grinding for all the achievements does get a bit tedious. The quests are almost entirely fetch quests, but that's not surprising for a fishing game.
