All I've done for months is launch, redeem login, and quit. I've checked the manual updater to verify that it's set to Full, and not HQ.
I've seen around that this is a recurring problem with the Steam client- something about some manifest files that point to the HQ files, and every time an update is pushed to Steam, the client will, even if you manually delete the hq folders, redownload them again as those manifests are part of the standard Steam download, which call to download the hq folders.
When you start the launcher after this it should analyze the game files, download the latest warthunder.yup from the Gaijin Servers and start downloading the missing/broken game files. When it does this reset the Full Client setting.
you mean ultra high quality DLC - the hq files are part of the full / normal client.
