its fantastic to be sure, i have used it with air to air ammo in its 50mm gun to one shot bombers from a couple of km out
its sitting at lower br than the regular a1 model with its 30mm autocannons because of how hard it is to use against fighters, the 50mm is overkill and sacrifices rate of fire which you need to hit a fast moving target
It's less skill and more rng, the cannon was super nerfed a while back so it's got pretty massive dispersion.
But yeah it's practically useless vs fighters.
The 7.0+ 262s are just garbage against any jet with .50 cals since the 30mm are actually just physically thrown out of the cockpit by the pilot.
to explain the mechanics the defensive aircraft pulls into a climbing turn, just so long as they maintain enough lead and do not have a significant disadvantage in energy or sustained climb, what happens is basic geometry, the 'attacking' aircraft on their tail if they try to maintain lead pursuit is actually turning both tighter and pulling their nose higher than the defensive aircraft draining their energy faster. the end result is the attacker if they try to maintain lead pursuit they are either going to stall or be forced to break away, both of which give an open shot at their tail by the former defender
there is a lot of nuance and doing the obvious thing can often be a trap, lead pursuit exists alongside true pursuit and lag pursuit and all have their place. while a deflection shot does require lead pursuit not all kills are going to be deflection shots, and with a lower velocity gun the angle of lead is greater leading to a greater loss of energy. Also exclusive to sim where you are forced into cockpit view larger angles of lead put the target below your nose so you are left guessing at their position and where your shots are going
The poor ME163 will explode sometimes on take off and landing
Panzer 2 will now face Kv-1 for ground battles as well
