Their objective, ultimately, is to make money at the end of the day. They don't really care how they accomplish this, most people don't.
The community objective is most likely to have fun. The more time and effort it takes to achieve that fun, the more likely the community is to complain, or to leave. Negative reviews and negative commentary will scare off fresh new players who don't know what they are getting in to, and perhaps scaring them off will cost Gaijin money.
The hostility towards their community at all levels, their attempts to silence criticism and critical reviews, at all levels from the founder at the very top to discussion on forums and down to chat in game, reflect their ultimate goal.
It didn't.
"these changes were nothing extreme"
That's true. But they are also not the only reason why the bombing started, this was simply the last straw.
Based on this, I wonder what changes they will try to implement next.
What a simp. Do you have a life outside of being a Gaijin boot licker?
and then suddenly everything goes into the the trash bin, gajjin crosses the "trust thermocline", the end of of the snail.
have fun google out what it means.
I find this quite funny to be honest because in my opinion it shows that to some degree he still doesn't seem to grasp the bigger picture here.
Imagine you were the British crown and after realising your greed just set off a full revolt in one of your colonies you think you can easily solve this tiny problem by writing a letter like this:
"Dear filthy revolutionaries, after long consideration we have decided not to go through with the tea tax after all. Now please go back to being good little subordinates and start behaving again. Yours truly, your beloved king. PS: Don't forget to pay your other taxes to the crown"
IMAGINE MY SHOCK, THEY ARE NOT BACKING DOWN hmm...
June 14th will be interesting. I'm looking forward to it.
I wish I could give you a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ medal man. This should be posted far and wide so the RIGHT statements can be made about WHY this is happening.
The recent influx of complaints should surprise no one, everyone has had enough with the CURRENT in game economy. This isn't just about the previously proposed changes the current economy is insufferable. Hence why the devs published a statement saying they're planning on making changes.
It's dishonest to claim that the so called "review bombing" was about the proposed changes and since those changes were reverted the reviews are now "off-topic". It's just that now everyone has gotten fed up and the previous proposition just stirred the pot.
Source.
Based on this information it would appear that the "off topic" description of this system is a misnomer. It absolutely does not matter if your review is a short "lol game bad" or a lengthy 500 word essay describing in detail why you cannot recommend the game to others.
Valve does not care.
The "anti review bomb" system is a cold killer. If the algorithm detects an unusual spike in negative reviews over a period of say 24-48 hours it will simply mark it as a 'statistical anomaly' and then revert the game's review score to a snapshot taken before the 'anomaly' occurred. The reviews themselves are still there albeit hidden behind default filters that the common user is unlikely to disable.
So the issue isn't that some reviews had less than an ideal amount of playtime or even that the content of those reviews were "off topic" (again a misnomer). The reason they were hidden is simply because there were too many negative reviews pouring in within a short amount of time. That's literally it.
So if you really want your voice to be heard, besides the "no play" boycott this Friday on the 26th to dip the Steam Charts, the next best thing you could do is delete and re-write your review at some point within the next few weeks. So long as it's a gentle rain and not a downpour, apparently it's fine.
the problem is rewriting a review with actual content just to bash on a problem they refuse to fix may have alternative effects (especially for the die-hard fans.) Like for example I go into a ton of detail on ALL the problems about Gaijin in my review from over 6 years ago. Changing it now would be nothing more than restating the same thing I did before. which could be seen as "off topic" by their system.
