ramming other planes
talk about reckless flying but i shot down 4 airplanes and rammed 1 plane. so i took out 5 planes in total but only registered as 4 kills. why doesnt my ram count. my plane was slightly damaged but still good to fly.

it counts as a crit some times

That's the point of ramming, neither get the confirmed kill.
Tigerzilla Aug 22, 2014 @ 2:24pm
Japanese should get kills by ramming though, it's accurate.

Sometimes I've shot up a bomber to the point that it has multiple fires... I'm expecting a kill or at the very least an assist.

But wait!

What is this?

Someone comes in from the front, so desperate for a kill they keep firing as they crash headon with the bomber!

[Bomber has crashed] [Fool has crashed]

No assist. No kill. You get... NOTHING! http://gifstumblr.com/images/nothing_280.gif

(sigh)

The logical reason I can figure that the mechanism is in there is to reduce those who like getting an instant kill merely by landing bullets on the person in front of them in a headon, then crashing into them to get that kill. By depriving people of getting a kill from ramming, it should reduce the incentive to do so.

Too bad not enough players really get that... I've lost plenty of kills due to foolish rammings.

That ole' aim hypnosis! Shucks, I DESTROYED the engines of 3 different planes in in a row and didn't get a kill for any of them and only an assist for one. Another round a guy rammed me from behind but I survived and he didn't, still didn't count as a kill for me.

As if rammers needed even more encouragment. You know some of ramming scumbags put reserve planes in their lineup only to ram the most dangerous planes from the sky and then they jump into their proper planes.

It's always frustrating to damage a plane at a point where it can only crash, and then some random guy comes to ram it.
Worst for me has been when I damaged 2 enemy planes which then crashed into each other -_-

The kill could be less rewarding and the damaging more, so that it doesnt feel like a loss when someone else ram our target. And the rammer would still get nothing anyway.

Ramming will get neither you nor the rammed person a kill as to not encourage this behaviour. There are only very few instances where ramming is considered good practise, for example if there's a bomber about to get the last ground target on RB and you see no alternative than to ram into him.

Don't ram. And if you want to talk messed up reward-system, talk about lethal crits not giving you the kill when someone swoops in and hits your target once before it hits the ground.

while im very much tempted to laugh and also hate on you for racism that could be a good plane attachment for crashing into bases.

Germans also had a unit that was purposed for ramming aircraft assumably bombers

The system can't detect who rammed who so if you were to get a kill for ramming an enemy plane, he would also get the kill credit for you unless you survive which we all know is fairly unlikely.

Yep, when the lufwafe got so desparate they started a ramming campaign of sorts. And they used striped down bf109s and FW190s, they had no armor, and the BF 109 had only 1 machine gun with 50 shots (why put the gun in at all if it only has 50 shots). they stripped them down so they would have crazy climb rates.

But it wasn't kamakaze, they would bail out right before impact or try to survive the crash and bail then.

History Channels Dogfights Season 2 had a episode on this.

I completly agree with ignorant rammers not getting any credit and also happy with not getting an asist form already shooting the plane they rammed, to help discourage ramming OFC.

What I would like to see is when someone rams you but you survive to fight on and get credit for it.

No they should not, Kamakazi ( not sure on the spelling) did not ram planes. they tried to take out ships moslty the big ships like carriers I think and the japanese also had a torpedo that had to be steered by a person, they were also kamakzi's.

I can be wrong on this but i feel sure the kamakazi were not even flying regular fighter planes but maybe old planes rigged with lots of explosives and such. Pretty sure they did not take a perfectly good plane and go crash it into a ship for honor.

PS: this is all from vage memory so I can be wrong on all of it haha.
