PZ.III M Question
Hey, which do you guys prefer having on your PZ.III M? The side skirt armor with base tracks or the Winterketten tracks without side skirts? Unlike other German tanks, I'm forced to choose between the two as equipping the PZ.III M's Winterketten tracks remove its side skirts and they only give +2% traction, not the additional +20% module strength like other German tanks. Since I'm one of those weirdos that can notice a difference with +2% traction, how much more survivable is the PZ.III M with side skirt armor and base tracks?

Side skirts, still quite a bit of HEAT shells around at that BR.

I would prefer to use the side skirts. They can sometimes rescue ur life from HEAT shells and even some ap shells (if you are right angled). I mean COME ON. Winter tracks only 2% ??? The tracks are a joke
(my opinion)

pz 3 m with its spammable 50 mm putting out good penning apbc, combined with the full space armour, is one of the tanks that can stand the retarded full uptiers you'll get to 4.0
as long as you stand off and angle you can pretty much tank everything and the turret time with the greater pen of the pz 40 shells at close range allows you to brawl and use your fantastic mobility, terrain handling and torsion to dance around enemies like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially if there's cover to move around in and out of zoom zoom.

its the best FUN you can have that isn't retarded OP BS. you can kill most everything EZ if you're not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and you'll get killed only by total ass BS or being a moron.

if you learn your pz 3 m you'll find yourself really only dying if you get stuck in a PUG with retarded teamates.

Thanks for all the helpful comments!

Those Schurzen skirts were introduced to defend against AT-rifles, it's not for HEAT charges. It shouldn't make much of a difference, I use the tracks on TD to help with turning. And the extra wide tracks can make a difference in off-road muddy/snowy terrain.

It can eat the HEAT shell, seen it happen plenty of times. Panel gets blown off but tank itself will still be intact.

Panels can get blown off by many things. It could potentially help by just being another "layer." But these are NOT meant to help against HEAT charges, and should not be thought of as a protection against them.

Schürtzen looks better and winterketten looks silly imo, like tank clown shoes.

There is also the protection and stuff of course, but we all know what is more important — why drive a tank if it doesn’t look good?

Blasphemy, winterkatten makes your tank thicc.

Should be options for
- Side skirt
-Winter tracks
- Both (Slightly slower speed)

I prefer winterketten as it helps with mobility in rough terrain.
HEAT argument is pretty silly considering there's barely any HEAT shells in use around that BR - 105mm Sherman and that round suffers going through steeply angled sides anyway. T-34 (1942) players mainly use APHE.

Depends what game mode, in AB you get all the Germans with their HEAT at that BR.

I don't have one. :/

In conclusion, it really depends on your play-style and, for some people, the appearance of your tank. The PZ.III M removes its side skirts (schürtzen) when you equip the winterketten tracks, so you have to decide between the two. Side skirts give you some extra (albeit destroyable) armor which might make a difference in some fights, while the winterketten tracks give +2% traction which can be helpful on muddy or snowy terrain. Another thing to consider is, as of this writing, the PZ.III M's winterketten tracks don't give the +20% module strength that other German tanks get, for some reason.
For now, I think I'll stick with the side skirts. Thanks everyone!
