Only skeletons? (Vanilla)
Been playing on my current save for about 70 In-Game-Days and have only gotten 6 skeletons (3 unique, 2 starter, 1 from bar). From the start of the new save I've been going around 3 cities where Skeletons are able to spawn (Shark, The Hub and Mourn) and with zero luck in finding any Skeletons.

I have tried knocking out random skeletons near the Armour King, dropping them near some slavers and buying their freedom but after like 15 random skeletons and knocking and dropping some of them multiple times, I haven't gotten a single one as my ally.

So, my question is, has anyone gotten better results with these methods and is it even worth while getting only skeletons in a squad?

try the recruitable prisoners mod. might let you capture the skeletons roaming around the armor king / rebirth area and then imprison and recruit them.

skeleton recruits can be hard to find and procure.
even though dropping them off to be enslaved then buying their freedom is tedious with only a 30% chance of any joining you. without the use of mods its pretty much your only option.

This must be false. Either I'm the unluckiest person to ever live or the personality of every skeleton makes them unrecruitable via slavery....
Either way, thank you for that piece of information.

It's not false, just not the full story. It also depends on other conditions. If their stats are too high, they won't join no matter what. Or if they think you are their captor.

So it's a roughly 30% chance, assuming all other conditions are met. And those skeletons in Wend tend to be right at the limit statwise. Some will be weak enough to be recruited, while others won't be.

Heads up: In my opinion having an all skeleton group is very boring. It takes away much of the challenge/fun. No need for food or to worry about environmental affects. No fear of being eaten.

I made the mistake of doing an all skeleton run once. It was not a challenge at all.

If you can enjoy that, good for you. I could not.

I had been playing for 3 more hours after making this post, and I've come to a conclusion that it is NOT worth recruiting only skeletons in Vanilla.

The time it takes is much more then I'm willing to give and it isn't even fun when I get to have a lot of skeletons.

Because I spent most of my time fighting when going from one place to another, my 6 skeletons were all at least 50 in skill points and with them I could easily beat most of bandit patrols and such. Because they are skeletons, I can heal to full and start over.
No risk, all rewards. Very boring.

Without mods the time investment to get a full squad of Skelly bois is too high. Although if you do decide to do it then go down to Sonorous Dark and grab a whole bunch of "armor" from the locals then head up to Holy Nation territory to F with the populace for the lolz.

skelly playthroughs are for new players trying to see more of the map and for roleplaying. you can't reinstate the second empire w/ any humanoid character now can you?

that being said most ppl don't bother w/ skelly playthroughs w/o mods, as how you are doing it is the best way vanilla

I think there is only 10 recruit-able skeletons , not very many

Skeletons don't eat and instantly heal with robo kits, they're best in war of attrition,
They can continue getting up repair and fight again.
They have bonus Strength learning and if you want Heavy weapons you need STR
which takes ages to master.
They have higher Hp Pool
Also Can Man Turrets Indefinitely.

However Their heads are exposed

In Essence Skeletons Are Low Maintenance , Tough , but can get smacked in the head.
