Honestly the easiest thing to do would be to simply get enough food to survive. The dog will age over time and his skills will increase in relation to that. He starts with 50ish combat skills, they're just penalized due to age. Once he get some days on him he should be a huge boon to you.
It should probably be labeled differently on the difficulty though.
this start need to hide from bandit(dust or hungry), if bandit see you, you're dead
even you can run from bandit, there's wolf den nearby
and might see beak thing if you run to wrong direction
if there's fight, pick higher price item from who been knock down
sneaky do it
when you enter near town, than you succeed like 50%
you will need to keep doing steal and go to hive village to sell
till you have money buy 10 green fruit and 3 building material to build a well
than you're okay to play this start.
I tried a second dogboy start and started way up to the far north west in that empty Imperial village... getting to mongrel... well... we're slow.. so... its very very hard. :)
I'll try again later.
you will need to go outter
or walk in the river side
there's 100 cooper not far away
just need to watch beak thing
preety much cooper=beak thing patrol field
get cooper in stealth mode, same as your dog
if been see, run into hive store, don't look back
Fastest way to start the game for me is 100 cats on bed rest, looting dogs, and stealthing everywhere. Then stealing. About 4 days and I have food for a month if it's just 1 mouth.
My rock bottom start beats yours, started just north of the hub, killed 2 garru outside of hub and then went to the hives. Started selling beakthing eggs and by dawn of the second day I had nearly 30,000 cats stuffed down my underpants. Headed to Mongrel to buy some trousers, a sword, get Crumblejon and sleep in a bed.
good one
well, in fact first goal is 1000cat for 10 green fruit(100cat*10)
(careful don't let char eat it, or buy a little more)
and 5* building material(115cat*5)
so, you can build one well and one green fruit farm
than 1*fabric(133cat) to build camp bed to rest
that farming to sell greenfruit
(crew can eat green fruit as food)
buy backbag, hire crews
that left arm, I don't care about it
with find a good place to build farm, than it's almost heal
doesn't affect in combat, if you don't need to carry others.
2nd step is build stone mine and stone processor
3rd step is build a small shack, and small research bench
4rd is 18*wheatstraw for research and build wheat farm
and another outpost(for iron ore or copper, depends on your first has iron or copper mine)
copper is not always need, but some part r structure will need
A good tip is to play with nest turned up a bit higher and watch for bandits and holy soliders attacking dog nest then just run in and loot the meat to cook it.
While I'm not opposed to that sort of play, greenfruit definitely wasn't my start.. I regretted wasting the time I did on it for my location, 2-6 greenfruit per plot per harvest is unacceptable. But then I didn't expect much with 10% yields in my favored location. I settled for a spot with copper and iron a stones throw apart. while being with in short walking distance to hives and holy territory for trading and... thieving purposes.
