Shift f12 menu to spawn items in?
How do I do this? I can spawn buildings and structures in, but not items. I click on items and it just shows a list of stuff on the left that does nothing when clicked.

Suggestions?

The ingame editor is not meant to casually spawn things in. It is used for moddifying the game world (permanently if not careful), typically in the use of advanced mod creation.

Thanks! I understand that there's some risks to using it, of course, and I won't blame you or anyone else if something goes wrong on my end.

I just wanted to spawn a specific item in, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Thanks in advance. If it isn't possible to spawn regular items in, I understand.

EDIT: A fellow Stonehearth fan! Pleased to meet you.

It cannot spawn items in. It is generally used purely for world editing.

The FCS is the closest thing you'll get to being able to spawn items in. You can add any item you want to any character or vendor you want. Or you could make a game start that spawns with the item.

I've not yet seen a way to spawn in items through the editor. I'm not sure if it's possible or not. If it is, and someone knows, then maybe they can tell you. But My recommendation is that unless you know what you are doing, then not to use the editor. It will not cause you to just reload your game before you edited, but you will need to wipe some data files and reinstall them. It alters the core game files, not limited to a single savegame.

Yes, Stonehearth is both adorable and enjoyable ^_^.

Understood! I'll leave it be, then. Guess I'll have to get Ancient Science Books the hard way.. :(

On an unrelated note, have you played Timber & Stone? If you're interested in Stonehearth (Or that genre on a whole), it's an awesome, slightly-more-polished alternative while we all wait for Stonehearth to reach full release.

Thanks to Shidan and Hatsune, as well! You guys are the bomb(s?).

I have a question about the FCS.

On STEAM, when we select PLAY or Launch Editor, is that editor the FCS or the editor we're not supposed to touch?

Or is the FCS somewhere else entirely?
Hatsune Neko Gaming 11 ENE 2017 a las 10:48 p. m.
FCS is for making Mods or editing your game.
there are two editors, one is ingame, the other is launched from the launcher.
Shidan 11 ENE 2017 a las 10:50 p. m.
The launcher one is the safe one. :)

How do you add animals to a new start in the FCS? I want the same start for the guy with a dog but with some money and basic stats.

So the one launched from STEAM is the FCS?

Also, looking around in it, it has a mod called REBIRTH listed as ACTIVE, is that a mod from the devs?

And also, looking in the Launched FCS (I looked in Kenshi File to find it) I see no way to add something to anybody's characters, but I know nothing about that sort of thing. I guess I should learn.
Hatsune Neko Gaming 11 ENE 2017 a las 11:09 p. m.
yes that's the something from the Dev
and best to learn is to start reading the Modding forums, here on steam and on the lofi main web forum.
even i'm still learning to work it. i haven't made custom starts ( that worked yet ) so you will have to play around with it. and i'm unsure exactly how to add some things, though with characters, that's rather easy.

If there was anything I'd add, I'd probably give out swords to more people, I like Katana, and I dislike Horse Choppers. So I'd give my group them, and give my enemies them as well, and maybe Naginata too. I guess I'll have to craft good ones though, since the Naginata we can buy are very low end.

you will have to edit the starting characters weapons loadout and hireables. there armour and weapons are listed on the left side in characters tree. its a click dropdown menu then click add.
right clicking on items already on the will bring up another menu to edit or delete items already in the character screen.

I'd hate to have to make a new start for all that, and I'm not sure I know what I'm doing yet, but thanks for the info.

I appreciate it.
