PlayStation VR2 Controller Setup
I recently received a PlayStation VR2 and been trying to get this game to work with my controllers, but nothing I do seems to work. Has anyone made a controller setup for this game that works with the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers? I am at my wits end here.

Distance doesn't support motion controllers, only standard gamepads or keyboard (or wheel and flight stick).

If that is the case, does that mean I can't map the game to my VR controllers buttons?
I have not even tried to use the motion capabilities, I just needed menu navigation.
I actually planned on only using the joysticks on the controllers to steer.
Unless there's a way to get them to appear as regular xinput or directinput controllers, then no.

So is the solution to put on the VR headset, then fumble around while blind to find the gamepad, and play using the gamepad while forgoing the ability to access the SteamVR menu and controls?
That can't be the answer, that feels like such a "duck-tape and spit" for the game. If it advertises itself as being VR compatible, why is it such a nightmare to use the VR controllers as if they were just a regular gamepad without gyroscope??

I appreciate your insight, I'm just baffled that there is seemingly no solution to use the included controller by just mapping things correctly...
Because that's the way VR controllers are designed. They don't appear to the PC as a gamepad, they're an entirely different type of device that has to be specially-supported. Generally only VR-first games have support for VR controllers; other games that are primarily flatscreen with an added VR mode, like Distance, racing sims, space sims, etc. only have support for regular controllers (or wheels, flight sticks, hotas type stuff). If you're new to VR, that's just the way the platform works overall, for all headsets and their controllers.

The "VR Supported/Compatible" tag is separate from the "Tracked Controller Support" tag for this reason. If a game has both, then you can use the headset and its controllers. If it only has "VR Compatible" then the game is only compatible with the headset.

Additionally, it's not entirely feasible to just use the mappings on VR controllers as a replacement for regular gamepad mappings because the A/B/X/Y buttons are split to different hands, meaning you can't hit X/Y at the same time as using the left stick like you could normally on a regular gamepad. That said though there have been some workarounds, like Virtual Desktop[www.vrdesktop.net] which can emulate a gamepad, but that's not for PSVR.

This makes a lot more sense. I really appreciate the explanation. So there is nothing wrong with my system or hardware as I was suspecting, but this is just how some VR games are made. This clears up a lot, thank you.
