Split screen + Dual Keyboards?

I was testing out the game to get a feel for it and I began to like it a lot, I noticed on the main menu that Splitscreen was an option on the PC version also. When I entered, it had up to 4 player compatibility and what appeared to be an xbox controller support (''Press 'A' to continue)
I was wondering if it would be possible to do two player splitscreen with two keyboards plugged into the same computer, at the same time. Any insight would be great, thanks

No, this isn't possible without the devs completely rewriting their input system. Only one player in splitscreen can use a keyboard.

Actually it is possible, but it's a work-around as windows generally treats all connected keyboards as the same one. No need to rewrite any input system, unless it can't use joystick button inputs.

The key is the program HIDmacros, that can distinguish different keyboards connected to a system, plus some other stuff. If anyone is interested in having a look, there is a how-to description here: http://ahkscript.org/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4229


Oh.. one thing I forgot: I didn't make it with continuous button presses.. it only presses the buttons for 0.1 seconds. It's probably moddable to change it with some button/key-up and key-down events instead.

Soo, in this case it's not really usable as-is anyway (sorry about that). Just FYI I guess :)

The devs actually said in a livestream a while back while they were answering questions from the chat that multiple keyboard splitscreen isn't possible with their current input system and it would require a complete rewrite of the system to be able to make it possible, which would also cause a ton more input bugs than is worth.

@Californ1a is correct. Unfortunately, Unity (Distance's game engine) doesn't support this feature. Only one keyboard is able to be used in split-screen.
