Speedy Saturday megathread!
Greetings, Programs!

I'm Fork! I've been around the Distance community for a while, you may have seen my charity livestream or track showcases, and you may have even been to a Speedy Saturday before!

I'm making this post because, frankly, not a lot of people seem to know about our weekly get-together! So this is me bringing it to light, ~dun dun duuuunnnNNnn~

What is Speedy Saturday?
Speedy Saturday is a weekly get-together that we members of the Distance community have on Saturdays (duh). It's all about hangin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool, and goin' super fast outside of the school!
We hang out, chat on our fancy new Discord server[survivethedistance.com], and just have a good time playing a game we all love.
Some of us, myself included, stream during, and while we have dedicated hosts anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to host, stream, or just hang out in chat with us :D

Why is Speedy Saturday?
Speedy Saturday was started way back when the game was still in alpha. Its purpose then, and now, is to strengthen our community and to make it as welcoming and friendly as possible!
We all love this game, so we gotta keep it alive! What better than a weekly, community-driven GO FAST AS HELL session, right???

WHEN IS SPEEDY SATURDAY?!?!?!?
SS runs every Saturday from 1pm to 3pm UNITED STATES CENTRAL

TL;DR:
Come together, race people, talk some friendly trash, and have a great time going fast! :)

If you have any questions, wanna chat, or have something important to bring up about a recent SS (or even wanna just make references to our crappy in-jokes), then feel free to chat here or on the Discord!

Discord server!

Might want to include that you typically use experimental build somewhere in that OP, though this build with chat not working didn't help with that lol
Should probably also have the times listed...

Be warned though, going above the player cap means that people will start spawning off the sides of the track, and going above 10 cap requires exponentially more network usage from the host.

I'm only posting here cause I know you'll see it. I've complained about this before but not allowing people to play Dev tracks in sprint without getting a bronze on earlier ones is a huge mistake.

I just want to play thru the adventure levels with my girf but we can't progress cause she doesn't make bronze. which doesn't make sense cause it just means either she plays the levels solo where their isn't a bar to playing the next one or we play non developer levels, which are way harder. if I want to play with people new to the game then they either have to play the introductory levels alone or do well on sprint mode in their first try. it's just plain old silly.
like why bar the tutorial levels while allowing people to play much harder random levels? why bar levels at all in sprint mode if there isn't a thing barring them in adventure mode?

I'm not actually a dev, your best bet would be to e-mail them this as feedback (if their email is listed), or to start a thread about it as a suggestion.

As has already been said in the thread you made previously, it's a (known) splitscreen bug. You are supposed to have the levels unlocked in splitscreen if your main profile (the one selected as p1 in splitscreen) already has them unlocked, but right now it is bugged. The official Arcade maps are still locked behind requiring bronze for the previous map in solo, but they stay unlocked after you do it once. Splitscreen is bugged and doesn't do that right now like it should. Adventure maps are also locked until you play the previous ones first, but they stay unlocked after you've played them once. Again, this is just a bug with splitscreen where the official maps stay locked right now. It will be fixed at some point.

I understand that the bug will be fixed at some point, my contention is that it's utterly pointless to bar people from dev levels that are accessible during the adventure mode in the first place

When you first play Adventure, the maps are also unlocked in Arcade. You may have played Adventure in an older build when this was not the case, but this is how it works:

The game doesn't start on Linux.
"There is no data folder" in log.
Version 1.1 worked.

Seems like a permissions issue, with the game not being able to read from or write to the data folder.

Permissions are correct. Perhaps this is due to the game build error.
