In this case anyway.
Although if you havn't gotten hollow point rounds yet then it becomes a bit of a choice really. (or if you enjoy the stoner then reload speed can help) The scar, med rifle, ak, and even the bullpup can still perform well without hollow point rounds, but its the varmit that gets a huge buff from it. So for the early rounds base it off of what gun you perfer using really. If you plan on using the varmit then the extra mag size could come in handy, but if you perfer to just use the 9mm until you get a better weapon then go for reload speed.
High Capacity Mags. I use in later waves when big zeds start showing up. I start the game with Tactical Reload and once I buy the AK-12, I change to High Capacity Mags.
So 90% of the games. Tactical Reload to start. Switch to High Capacity mags once I've bought the AK-12.
Also helps that I reload cancel, so I can reload quickly even without Tactical Reload.
But I' actually recommending you don't do this. I target big zeds as mando because I am good at killing them as mando. Until you get a good feel the for the guns I'd stick with tactical reload just for the convenience, because High Capacity Mags is only really useful if youre killing big zeds.
The Scar is a slight exception, if you like the scar, then I also recommend High Capacity Mags, just because I think 20 bullets isnt enough in late waves, and the Scar reloads fast anyway.
Longer but fewer reloads. - You'll be presented with opportunities where you can reload when you feel it is safe to do so.
Verses
Shorter but more frequent reloads. - You'll be forced into reloading weither you want to or not.
Both can be played effectively, just slightly different.
The answer is personal preference and situation.
Use both and decide for yourself.
I'd take high capacity mags. Since you're reloading your entire mag at once, the elite reload doesn't make that much difference. Grabbing a med rifle and an AK with high capacity magazines gives you an effective 90 round magazine with good power and good utility.
High capacity magazines also makes it easier to handle scrakes, should the need arise. If you've got an effective 90 round magazine and it only takes about 23 or so AK headshots to take out a scrake on the highest difficulty, you have a very nice margin of error.
When you use the Stoner 63, you will notice the difference between the 2 skills.
