sysconfig.lua directory file [WHAT IT DO?]

I was snooping around the files in the game to see if there was anything that I could change more directly, such as a config file, to tweak graphical settings and found this file (See title). To my slight suprise, I found some parameters with in it that I am rather curious to ask about, in hopes to find some information about them of course. Here they are listed below in my Notepad++;

--~ These are used to tweek the options screen
applicationBaseMemory = 1000
d3d10AdditionalMemory = 64
allowableVirtualMemoryUsage = 512

What do these do exactly? I changed the parameters to see if anything internally would change. Would increasing these values really do anything positive, or will they just cause some 'wonkey' behavior out of the game? I really didn't want to mistakably post this on the "General Discussions" because I felt it was to 'technical' about the game and how in works internally, though I could be sorrowlly mistaken. Any information provided will be much appreciated.
