I hear and feel your pain. The old days of expansion packs or dlc will never return and it's a shame. I blame Sega.

Which doesnt mean CoH2 wont have any expansions just DLCs. Unfortunatelly, time is like that, DLCs are everywhere. ToV wasnt that good, and it was esentially DLC, just back then that term wasnt that much in use, and it lenght like, say, ToW mod from CoH2. I could say the same for Half-Life 2 Episode One, it took me 3 hours to complete it, and it was an expansion back then. Today it would be easily DLC.

My rant was aimed in general, the old days offered way better dlc or expansions like it does these days. Now a game gets released and you see so many options, especially if the publisher is Sega, EA, Activision or Ubisoft. It's getting silly at sometimes. We used to mod this stuff ourselves, made maps ourselves (and way better as devs) and had tons of content user made.

Why Sega?

Relic was pulling all this DLC shenanigans in DOW2: Retribution when THQ was the publisher.

I must admit that copious amounts of DLC tend to put me off buying a title these days, as does the various day one versions on offer - more and more companies are using the whole DLC route to drip-feed content that previously would have been in the original release. I am not against the idea of paying for quality DLC that enhances or expands a great original game, and I have enjoyed some fantastic examples of DLC over the last few years that I gladly paid for, just to extend my experience (the Red Dead Redemption DLC on the PS3 really added to what was already a cracking title for example) but some of the offerings out there are ridiculously overpriced and completely pointless.

Each to their own, of course.

Any game that offers release day DLC will not be bought by me. It smells fishy and I did not buy CoH2 for that exact reason. Hitman is another example. Make a good game then bring out expansions/DLC but creating additional content pre-release as DLC should clearly mean ripoff to everyone and this game should therefore not be bought imho.
But people will buy anything even if the label says "SCAM" on it so....

All of the DLC released so far aside from 1 skin pack and Faceplates were free to those who own the Digital Collector's Edition and the upcoming Case Blue Theater of War pack will be free to DCE owners and anyone who pre-ordered the game.

It's silly to see people blame SEGA for DLC being in CoH2. THQ planned all that. DLC is the current and future of video games. Get over it.
and i guess Rome's publisher was THQ also... Invalid Point.

If I upgrade to collectors edition I will get all those DLC? Or was it just a limited time offer?

Easy way to fix this is not to buy the games that do it.
Nessajia Sep 19, 2013 @ 2:07pm
I bought the Collections edition upgrade but I only seem to get half of the dlc listed.
femurnadir Sep 19, 2013 @ 2:14pm
Well I pray that the DLCs are generally cosmetics it could have been "pay to win" kind of thing.
(Commanders are kinda is but the box standard generally does the trick especially for soviets)

What ones are you missing?

It dont say I own the ToW but I take it, it will change when its released? I also did not get any of the faceplates and three skins from camouflage pack is missing.

It won't say that you own any content that's not yet released. So the Theater of War pack that's coming out on Tuesday won't be listed in your game until then.
