Use of trainers in single player mode
Hello! I was just wondering if it'd be against Steam's rules to use trainers (which essentially give you unlimited resources, etc.) in single player. I mean obviously, if it were to be used in multiplayer, it'd be a completely different matter (and I don't think trainers work with multiplayer anyway).

So, what do you guys thing? Is it a banable offence to use a trainer in single player? Thanks for the input! =D

Malicious applications are not allowed and running them with steam online you are risking vac ban. Single player or not, you cheat and gain achievements unfairly. Will you get banned? Maybe. Depends on developer.

Hm. Makes sense. I suppose one could abuse it to get achivements, so that does make sense. Thanks for the input! =D

I use to cheat all the time, not for achievements but because cheating was a different type of fun. The idea of being vac banned for trying to have your own kind of fun in a single player experience worries me. I should be able to do exactly what I want in a single player game since it's just me and it's not hurting anyone. I'm not hating on modern gaming by any means but there's something amazingly fun about playing Red Alert 3, spawning hundreds of Peacekeepers and making them charge a base.

I mean in comparison to that program that will just flat out give you the achievements for any game instantly without having to play it, using a trainer seems fairly harmless.

Only because you don't understand how harmful it is doesn't make it any less harmless.

Instead of trying to explain something you just don't get it... You tell me how will you cheat in single player without getting achievements. How exactly will you stop game from awarding you?

What's with the hostility? Here I was asking you a question hoping you'd explain and then I get that. Jeez laweez.

@Pan - Yes, exactly! It's just so much more fun filling the place with Soviet forces and overwhelming the Germans for once in single player.

@T-Bone - Are you sure? If it's not a VAC secured game, you won't get banned or anything? Oh, and how do you find out if a Steam game is VAC secured or not?
Pan Aug 20, 2013 @ 9:06pm
I believe it says if it's VAC Secured on the store page. I'll have to take a looksie.

Edit: Yeah its on the right side under where it explains what type of genre it is, how many players and what it includes.
