I stand by for this one.

There is no virus. It's a false positive generated by your virus scanner. You have to report it to your anti-virus developer. It's their anti-virus definitions, that need to be fixed (updated).

My G-Data spotted it too, and G-Data is one of the best Programs out here...

BitDefender Antivirus detected and quarantined reliccoh2.exe as a "Gen:Variant.Symmi.32925"

For some reason I can't even break it out of quarantine, bleh, really need a new antivirus.

Not flagged by Norman Security Suite, which has served me well for 10 years without EVER letting a virus go undetected (and no, I think I would have noticed a virus ;-) ). It has, however, on a few occasions generated a false positive, which is a minor, albeit annoying, problem compared to a real virus.

My Iolo System Shield noted nothing while updating, and found nothing in a subsequent virus scan.

F-Secure quarantined Reliccoh2.exe, the patch which was automatically downloaded today via steam. Virus name: Gen:Variant.Symmi.32925.

Got a positive on Bitdefender... Can't write to disk while it's on.

Same here, my Bitdefender doesn't like the file either.

Yep bitdefender flags it, can't restore it from quarantine, and removing it messed up my download of the patch, causing me to redownload the game again.

I have F-Secure Anti-Virus and have had the same issue and name of virus as laughingman who started this thread and when it gets called up I have to restart pc cos infected and the download pauses and I have to re-download with same issue and can't play the patch/update please get it fixed.
Nickie Oct 30, 2014 @ 2:31pm
F-Secure is using Bitdefender's scanning engine and virus definitions. It is these virus definitions, that are at fault. Relic can't fix them - it's a job for your AV provider and they can only fix it, if you tell them there is a problem. Don't expect Bitdefender, F-secure etc. to read this thread - it anin't going to happen.

you simply have to go into your settings in you AV and create an exception for COH2. this basically disables your AV for anything pertaining to COH2. download the update, play the game, then turn your AV back on for COH2. its really easy. aand there is no virus to worry about as i hope you all know by now

Yeah I tried this the first thing I did, and it didn't work, though even that the whole COH2 folder was excluded the update was still tagged and removed as a potential Trojan.
