Running Parallels on an Imac
I have a 3.4 ghz I7 and am running Parallels 8. COH2 loads fine and begins to setup a game and then at about 90% the game crashes. Other games seem to run fine. Can anybody asist? And please don't tell me to get a PC, thats not an option.

What bugsplat number do you get for the crash?

I would run it in boot camp as well.

Parallels is not meant for games. It is horribly unstable, especially with new games. Create a Bootcamp partition using Windows 7 and you should be fine. It is pretty quick and easy. I'm assuming you already have Windows since it doesn't come with Parallels. I'm a Mac person, but I built my own windows desktop for exactly this reason.

So using Bootcamp should allow it to run? Has anyone played COH in Bootcamp?

I am also experimenting with Parallels 9 and COH2 I have a new Macbook Pro Retina (which has a nice graphics accelerator) - I tried increasing my CPUs to 2 and giving 512Mb of video RAM - I still get the message "failed to find a supported hardware rendering device". Anyone got an idea how this might be fixed? There are various complicated reasons to do with my Windows licence why I don't just use Bootcamp...

Make a nice Win7 partition with bootcamp. That's how I play COH2 and it runs well.

Just run Bootcamp Assitant from the finder and it'll guide you through. A couple hours tops.

I might try if I have no other choice but a) Parallels is more elegant and b) if I use bootcamp I would have to buy an additional Windows license - annoying!

I've never tried Parallels. Is it an emulator? Does it not need a Win7 license? If you have a license can't you transfer it to bootcamp?

I was able to import my old Win 8 setup from bootcamp (a 'native' boot partition) on my old machine to Parallels on the new one but it isn't technically possible to get back from Parallels to making a new bootcamp partition. Parallels is a virtual machine.

I have managed to get CoH2 'working' but all the units and buildings are invisible now and I can't install a native Intel Iris driver to try to fix. Have tried different graphics settings but they don't seem to change things.
