Installing from CD

I purchased the physical disc itself. Upon trying to install the game, steam is forcing me to download a 9.9 GB version of the game itself. What it is this lunacy? Is there anyway to install from the cd itself?

ya try unplugin ur internet and do an install offline if it will let you; dont know if the install client needs to be online in order to run tho

No dice. I think the only full blown conclusion is that Steam is rubbish. So I've now spent my money on a DVD and am forced to spend more money on data to download what I already have on a physical medium. Fantastic.

Just remeber to backup your Steam Game to DVD, so if you ever have to re-instal you dont have to use those outdated "Company of Heros 2" CD's

every game uses steam now aways you might as well just wait it out like i did. 14 hours lol

did you ever find a solution, i have the cds but also wifi and data cap, so want to install from CD first.

i brought the hard copy and installed from CD as well, from what i experience it's normal that after the completion of the initial 9.1GB or so installation, steam will still download a further 700-800MB and mark the game as 'downloading' and unplayable' before it finishes.

follow the instructions here and then all you have to do is the patches which arent bad............works with all those steamworks games.
