Artifical progression system to distract people from the fact they're playing a reskin of CoH1.
Why is someone new to the game playing against someone who got everything unlocked? The problem in that scenario is the matchmaking and not the perks itself.
And the new player vs veteran is just a joke, the perks won't be the problem, it will be the experience.
I don't particulary like this system, but those sargument... Ho Gosh!
You know what started all this crap, MW or COD or whatever, while I was happily playing a clean purist team based PvP FPS in Counterstrike, people were salivating over unlocking this and unlocking that, and now it's everywhere... it's like achievements incentives have made it into the game and now have the ability to effect the actual outcome of the game.... Conceptually I like the idea, but I wish it would be heavily restricted to cosmetic/bragging rights things... likes skins and ranks, snazzier looking tank (or assault rifle in the case of shooters) models
There's no need to be efffecting gameplay like this, EVERYTHING does not have to have RPG elements.
I still remember how broken CoHO got once you had Pioneers with the same assault rifles as the Knights Cross straight at the start of the game.
